In today’s society, choosing who is and is not your true friend can be extremely difficult. Hanging out with them on a daily basis does not mean they are always going to be there when needed. Friends are people who can support you when support is required. Consider your parents to be one of the most trustworthy friends anyone could have, at least in my perspective. If you need help or support, more than likely that is who you can go to. Family is called family for a reason. Love is the main characteristic in a family, and if love is there, support and caring for one another will always be there. Without the nonstop support and care for a friend, what is a friend considered to be? People view friends in vast amounts of ways, but in mine it is simply a person who is there to help you when times are rough and willing to have a splendid time, all the time. Signs of a fake friend consists of never feeling comfortable enough with them to tell them a secret, they have never asked about your family and you have never shared any details of your family with them. Furthermore, you normally only spend time with them in a group setting, never on a one to one basis. They have never seen the real you, they only see the façade that you put on when you are part of the group. That’s only a handful of examples that determine a fake friend versus a real one. Signs to look for in a real friend is when you can laugh together until you both have tears running down your face, sit in silence together and still feel comfortable. Additionally, even if you only see each other two or three times a year, when you are together it’s like you have never been apart.
