Likewise, thirty-three percent of students put pressure to earn good grades in a category of stress (Parker). Meanwhile, students who only focus on earning good grades, do not learn as significantly and thus, do not benefit from the homework as much. Homework can make students have health problems when teachers do not use it properly. Homework should not lead to health problems. When students have homework, they should plan ahead on how they are going to accomplish it. Athletics should not be a problem because at most schools coaches claim academics before athletics, thus, if necessary, students would be able to skip practice to complete their homework. Once the student manages his time and has a homework schedule, he will not be stressed. Thus, when a student is not having stress he will sleep better. Students need to manage their time for homework so it does not lead to health problems. Homework can have a reputation of being useless. Studies show homework time is growing larger (Kohn 2). Homework is like a boat with a hole in its side if there is a leak in the boat then the boat is useless. The water will rush in and fill the boat with cold, dark water. The same goes for homework, it is useless. All the nights kids spend with hours and hours of homework, all the tears and stress are not helping kids in school. Numerous amounts of today's kids have excessive amounts of homework.
Students tend to stay up for homework due to the fact that they usually don 't’ have enough time. Not getting enough sleep will increase the development of poor health making students incapable of learning. “Some of the most serious potential problems associated with chronic sleep deprivation are high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attack, heart failure or stroke. Other potential problems include obesity, depression and lower sex drive” (Brain Team and Spine). Just by that, homework can ruin personal lives by taking what students need like enough sleep.
The clock strikes 12:00 am and students are trying to finish their pile of homework due in the morning. Students are rushing to finish in order to get ready for the next day. Schools are assigning students a lot of homework, but the homework can do more harm than good. Negatively affect kids by sleep deprivation. Source of frustration and daily stress.

Having too much homework stresses a person out, lowers grades, and doesn’t get done because one has little time available. “[S]tudies have found that high school students may also be overburdened with homework- so much that it’s taking a toll on their health” (Levy 3). Stress can be caused by excessive amounts of homework, which can be bad for your health- hence why being burdened with so much homework can cause a strain on one’s health. A professor at the University of Toronto, Lee Bartel, studied the effects of homework on children by testing data on over twenty-thousand students and concluded with results showing that homework does indeed have the effects of causing stress and anxiety. Research preformed by Stanford Graduate School of Education examined the different effects of homework on students' well-being and discovered that students that worked on homework for longer than three hours a night are negatively impacted. There are stories flooding the internet of students who have been so weighted down by the amount of homework burdening them and that combined with the stress just caused their mind to seize up until they just broke down and cried. Personally, I used to love school and the concept of learning new things until I came to high school where it was such a high demand and there are other students like me. There are even students who are going through stuff like death of a family member, or risky family life, or even just have bad living conditions that have to learn to forget all those problems until that type of stress sneaks up on them. The fact that they don’t have any time to talk to anybody about their problems because they simply have no time causes them to internalize this pain until they eventually blow up mentally. Teachers usually argue that students don’t have enough time to complete work during the day, and that homework reinforces the things students learn in class.
