How to quit smoking About six million of tobacco users die each year. Smoking is an addiction that various people suffer from. Ninety percent of lung cancer deaths, including strokes and breathing problems are caused by smoking. Smoking has a major affect not only on the person and his/her surroundings, but also on society. And that is why people must focus on putting this habit to an end. Quitting this habit may appear to be difficult; however, if the right steps are followed, it can be accomplished.

Stress, depression, anxiety and also boredom are the main reasons why people start smoking. When experiencing those feelings, people feel the need to smoke. First, the person should always remember the reasons behind this decision and what triggered his/her smoking habits in the first place. A way to remember is by asking himself/herself questions. For example, when feeling a strong urge always try to remember the main reason for quitting, in other words “why am I quitting?” By doing so, it will help increase the will power or self control in that person. A different way is for the person to know the effects of smoking and what it can do to the body. That is because not every smoker knows the effects of smoking. For example, not everyone knows that there is a fifty percent chance of killing the user, or that it is very dangerous for pregnant women. Some people set goals to make things easier for them, and when succeeding they reward themselves with anything they want.
