Keep School Sports You have probably seen or heard about your school’s team’s victories or losses. You might wear a T-shirt or sweatshirt advertising the teams. But, to most people, they aren’t considered all too much. Even though you may not give them much thought, they can actually benefit students. Schools should keep sports. One reason schools should keep sports is because they help students achieve higher grades. According to O’shei’s article, sports games, practices, and meets can help relieve stress, which can allow them to focus better during assignments. If they get higher scores, then their grades will reflect that. It has also been proven that pupils that play sports get higher grades in math and English. If they get better scores
However, students show commitment in staying on the team so they try to focus on their grades too. In fact, the university of Chicago, becoming a man-sports edition creates lasting improvements in the boys study habits and grade point averages. This evidence clearly shows that there is no harm into the student’s grade. The most convincing reason why high school sports are beneficial is that being in a school sports shows and improves social and participation around others.
According to " The Case Against High-School Sports" (2013), sports could create some study, health, and time management problems for schools and students. In this post, Amanda Ripley initially shows the benefits when involving in the high-school sports: exercise, sportsmanship lessons, some positive personalities, more fun and staying away from vices. She also writes some tales to inform readers that in the US, students are interested and enjoy in sports more than other peers in other countries. However, she claims that the high-school sports have negative effects on schools and students. Next, she gave some schools ' examples to show the problems when schools and students spent too much time and money in high-school sports.
Courtney Stawarz says, “Sports are important, I understand that. However, Elizabeth Kolbert has a valid argument.” She says, while Americans tend to put more emphasis on sports rather than learning, it is not the children that are at fault. She sees how sports are related to grades being you have to make sure you are eligible to play. Children have to watch their grades in order to be able to play sports in schools.
Many school’s require a C average to even participate. So, without sports would those kids who only keep grades up for sports, fall? Or would American kids realize the importance of education instead of sports and put in more effort? Kolbert discusses the distraction side of sports involvement in school and the different views of academics and sports to parents. Although sports offer a number of life skills, it can take away from student study time.
For years schools have bonded through sports programs, now they think they should get rid of them. Being a student in school is harder that it has ever been. The academic standards are so high, it can feel paralyzing. That's why it is so important for schools to invest in sports programs now and in the future. Schools should keep sports programs because sports relieve stress on kids and makes kids look forward to going to school.
High School Sports Should be Funded Every year 300,000 students are participating in sports (Gould 1). The School District has been funding the athletics program, which has been benefiting many of the students’ lives for several years. The discontinuation of high school sports will cause many students to loose the health, social and educational benefits provided by participating in athletics. The School District should continue to fund sports because they benefit students.
According to Bolesta, "Students who are intensely involved in sports are less likely to abuse drugs or alcohol or join gangs." He also states, "Sports give kids a change to try and fail and keep playing..ignoring the teasing make kids better players and stronger people. "In other words, if we play sports then we have less time to spend with unneeded occupation, which helps us become stronger players in life. Others might argue that practice might take away study and homework time. However study show that sports help you focus more in your studies.
In many topics, people often bring up that the united states lags behind in graduation rates and this is because school sports are so entrenched in our culture and everyday life ( Ripley 10 ). It was found that a school called premont in texas cut sports and the students success rate went from only 50 percent of students passing their classes, to 80 percent of them passing in the next semester ( Ripley 10 ). Furthermore, if we don 't do something about our nation 's grades and graduation rates we will soon be in a very serious crisis. With this information in mind, schools around the nation should make a change to help improve the grades of the students. If schools were to dispose of the sports the students would greatly benefit mentally, the district’s profit margin would increase, and the establishment could use the money to improve the structure of the institute.
Along with, when schools have sports it gives students an escape from school. Some schools don’t have a have a rule about if the student is eligible to play
If you have ever been in sports or school athletics, act fast! Schools are getting rid of their sports and we need to stop it. “Being a student is harder than ever. You are being held to tougher academic standards-and so is your school.
John Witherspoon stated, “You win some, you lose some, but you LIVE, you LIVE to fight another day!” As a fan of football I have to keep this statement in my head. Time after time I would watch CAU get defeated by teams that, but I still had faith that one game we would be victorious. As the season continued I began to start seeing fewer students at the games to support our players, and I began to question my own faith in our team. CAU’s students should support and have faith in CAU’s football team, because a true fan never loses faith in their team, the players work hard and try their best, and CAU is their Alma Mater.
Sports can enhance the cooperative and strategic strategies. The passage states that, “understanding the competitive process entails an appreciation of the social nature of competition, particularly with regard to the cooperative and strategic aspects of sports and an awareness of the nature of individual roles within a cooperating group.” The last reason, which it the academic benefits, proves that you shouldn’t take away the sports for school. The kids that play sports benefit in the classroom a lot more than regular students.
Large numbers of schools around the world, but particularly in the U.S., give students the chance to partake in team sports after school, but this may not be as healthy for children as we thought. Since this may cause unfavorable effects, districts should eliminate after school sports to cut costs, make time for other academic activities, and eradicate the low grade average they are causing. Many may feel it is a wonderful idea for kids to play sports, but being involved in after school athletics may not be so great after all. According to an article by Amanda Ripley, sports can cost schools a great deal of money, up to $150,00 a year and by eradicating these sports, schools can save thousands of dollars (10).
Elizaveta Skorohod Should sports be kept in schools? Should sports be kept in schools? Athletics in schools have been a widely discussed subject over the years. Many people think that sports should be kept in schools, and that they provide many benefits. However, others think that schools should stop funding and having athletics, and focus on more important things, like their finances, as well as academics.
School-would be an option for some, but fees, equipment, and travel expenses can add up to thousands of dollars per season. Many parents can afford that. ´´ If we get rid of school sports kids might not do sports ever again. The prices are outrageous, school sports actually make it affordable for kids to do. We can 't let sports get taken out of school.
