Alcoholism is the abuse of alcohol by people who are unable to control their drinking behavior over an extended period of time. Alcoholics are not simply people who drink alcohol; instead, their entire lives revolve around it. At first, everyone who starts drinking alcoholic beverages, thinks that its something normal, and that it's okay to do it, but what they really don't know yet, is that this particular habit has a way of turning itself into one of the worst addictions in the world.

Alcohol does this by altering the actions of two major neurotransmitters in the brain and slows down the connections that happen within the mind and leads to a loss of cognitive function. In her article “Alcohol can rewire the teenage brain,” author Tara Haelle supports that teenage drinking is a growing concern and accounts for 11 percent of all alcohol consumption in the United States alone. The drinking age of 21 is partly due to state and federal statutes but, also because one’s brain doesn’t stop developing until then. Exposure to alcohol in adolescent years can permanently alter brain chemistry. Drinking during this critical period of development may lead to permanent damage that can linger for the duration of a person’s life.
Telling them that drugs can harm their brain cells if they consume drugs while their brain are still in the process of growing. Drugs can harm the body from the outside and the inside. Sometimes that harm can lead to a higher risk of dying because of the damage being done. Drugs like heroin, ecstasy, alcohol, and many more can cause your brain to be in another condition of not being able to be in control of your body. For example, one of my friends, uncle has been doing cocaine and drinking alcohol since he was 27 now that he is 35 he has horrible chest pain and his heart rate is very high leading him to have a heart attack at any moment.
Having a damaged immune system can open your body up do diseases or infections, but normally just the common cold. However a damaged immune system from drinking in serious cases has proven to be lethal. The immune system is affected by alcohol as it causes the blood to thicken and clot, giving less oxygen (transported through blood) to the immune system meaning it will not work as efficiently. Drinking in excess for one night can even slow down the immune system for up to 24 hours, leaving the body more vulnerable to
According to CNN, nearly 40% of all 12th-graders surveyed had used some sort of illicit drug in the past year. I continue to see people abuse drugs in my community, it’s time to start bringing light to this problem and hopefully an end. Drug abuse has been going on for hundreds of years, only recently scientists and medical professionals have come to understand that addiction is actually a disease. Despite what researchers have said, many people still consider addiction a choice and those who suffer from it have bad
According to the NHS, its estimated that over 120,000 deaths are caused by smoking annually. All those cigarettes that you smoke then leads to horrible effects later in life; e.g. Cancer, Brain Damage, high blood pressure, gum disease etc. People still somehow find some sort of satisfaction whilst smoking cigarettes, so why do people continue to do so? Nevertheless my views on cigarettes will always be the same, they should be illegal.
Why the drinking age should be lowered in the US The drinking age in the U.S should be lowered because there are many problems that have happened and are still happening in the United States. For example some of these problems are teen pregnancy, car accidents and underage drinking. These Scenarios are happening everywhere around the United States. They are all very dangerous because most teenagers start to drink at the ages of 16 and 17. People have debated about this before saying that teenagers are not mature enough to handle the alcohol consumption that most teenagers are drinking as of right now.

Drunk driving was the main cause in the death of one of the world 's most famous and beloved people in 1997.
