Persuasive Essay On Animal Testing

865 Words4 Pages

Twenty-six million animals are used every year to test the safety of medicine. Out of the 26 million animals that are used the data excludes all cold-blooded animals, birds, mice, rats and any other animals that are bred for use. These animals are injected with vaccines and pills are forced down the animal’s throat and if an animal is in pain it’s just expected to suffer until it dies. It is inhumane and cruel to test something on animals that might kill them and there's no point on testing a medicine when the results from the animals will be insubstantial. Taking the lives of animals just to benefit human needs is not right, therefor animal testing should be made illegal worldwide.
Animals are very different from humans, so why test medicine …show more content…

These experiments can put animals through excruciating pain. It is inhumane to put animals through this kind of suffering just for the benefits of humans. No experiment is illegal, no matter how cruel, irrelevant to human health, or painful the experiment is. (Peta.org.) This shows that animals can be put through cruel experiments. These animals will never know what it’s like outside of a laboratory because if they aren’t trapped in a cage they’re stuck in immobilizing restraint devices. While stuck in the restraining devices some animals are injected with vaccines that could be lethal but they have to suffer through the pain anyway because laboratories are not required to use anesthetics to make an animal feel less pain. Most animals that are used for testing don’t live very long either, if an animal is used for testing they are usually killed during the experiment or they’re killed after the experiment anyway. According to Peta.org, “Some animals have holes drilled into their skulls, and others have their skin burned off or their spinal cords crushed.” This just shows how cruel animals are really treated. Some of the cages are so small an animal isn’t able to turn around or even stand up, animals are still suffering even when they aren’t being tested on. Neavs.org states that, “90-95% of the animals that are tested are rats, mice, and birds and they are killed in almost every testing trial.” Animals
