In the modern society, career choice will always be one of the most relevant decisions college students should reflect on. According to the California State University, Long Beach (CSULB, n.d.), two critical questions are always asked whenever someone is about to enter College: which college major will you choose? and which career path will you pursue? These questions will guide students to understand how their decisions can affect their profession and personal life. The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy had been one of the most in demand courses in the past few years. A growing number of incoming college freshmen are being hooked by the said course despite the rumors that it is also considered one of the toughest courses of all times.

It is very time consuming merely because Accounting books are very difficult to understand and analyzing problems or transactions also come in a long process for theories need to be understood first to correctly get the answer and idea behind them. Another factor is the feedback from graduates of BS Accountancy. People are easily persuaded by what other people say and this is what makes them think that the said course is difficult in nature. Their view towards the subject becomes worse for they are preempted with the mindset that things on this subject aren’t easy. Just like what Galang (2014) said, “If you believe accounting to be difficult even before you actually experience it, then you’ve already put it on a pedestal and just the same, you’ve lowered your confidence in actually facing it”.
The difficulty of the subject does not necessarily come in nature; it comes from the attitude and perspective of students on whether they will stick to the idea that the subject is hard. In a zero-based system, a passing grade of 60 has a higher standard compared to a passing grade of 75 in the fifty-based grading system (Word Press, 2012). For accountancy students, the grades in board related courses are determined using a zero-based system, with the grade computed as the percentage of correct answers over the total number of test items (De La Salle Lipa, 2015). This grading system is used only by the said school, unlike the other schools and universities who are using the fifty-based system that has a big difference compared to a zero-based grading system. This system can be considered as an edge to other competitive schools which are offering the same program for it is helpful in taking the CPA Licensure Examination. Majority of the BS Accountancy students sacrifice a lot because of the high standards the school offers.
