Another reason as to why cheer might not be a sport would be because you cheer for basketball and football players. That is very true but cheerleaders also compete so we aren’t just cheering for basketball and football players. In games we don’t just cheer we also perfect tumbling skills during time-outs and also perfect stunts, maybe being used for competitions that we were struggling with. Cheerleading also takes a lot of practice, it isn’t something that you can catch on to quickly. Overall cheerleading is athletic and requires skill, even if people disagree.
Sideline cheer lacks even more qualities that competitive cheer. Additionally, in cheer women are subjected to false expectations of society that they feel obligated to uphold, like wearing inappropriate clothes and heavy amounts of makeup, which is very stereotypical and degrading. Therefore, I say that cheer is not a true sport. Many injuries happen during sports, including cheer. As said in an article on MomsTeam a website dedicated to sports, cheerleading holds the highest rate of catastrophic
Conditioning is basically workouts designed to make everything easier in cheer. They can be very difficult after you've had a full evening of cheerleading. After getting the routines all ready the teams compete against each other in competitions that can be local, regional, national, or worldwide. The national competitions tend be more and important and can also be shown on TV. Sideline cheerleading is the type of cheer done in high school.
Punters are football players too. Punters are considered specialty players and mostly play when the offense goes three and out or on kickoffs if the team’s kicker doesn’t have enough leg power. Their main job is to kick the ball far enough so that he can get it far enough downfield and pin the other team deep in their own territory. Think of the punter as the guy whose job it is to land an approach shot on the green. A lot of people have said they shouldn’t be playing or even consider to be called athletes.
The difference between adult and child athletes is that when adults participate in sports, they know that playing in that sport is going to come with serious injuries and consequences. Whereas children do not know what they are signing up for when they decide to participate in a sport. Most times kids do not think about the serious injuries that they could get while playing they just join because a parent wanted them to participate in something or because they see that some of their friends are in it and they want to be a part of that sport too. No matter how old an athlete is, the biggest topic that has been talked about for years now is athletes getting concussions during sports. There have been numerous articles revolving around this topic and was even a movie called “Concussion” starring Will Smith who played as a guy who is concern about athletes getting concussions in football and even examines the brain when it has endured a concussion.
Is Football too Dangerous Is football too dangerous? That is a question that a lot of parents ask themselves when their child wants to play football for school or a club. Football has been played for 138 years. The sport has evolved to help prevent head injuries by adding more gear, Making rules, and giving players a limit on how many concussions one player can have. Football is not too dangerous it should continue to be played across america.
Cheerleading is already sexualized and has been for quite some time. This is why cheerleading has had difficulty being called a “real sport.” Though it 's hard to tell where cheerleading uniforms are headed, one thing is for certain: cheerleading uniforms will reflect the hotly debated topic of cheerleading being recognized as an organized sport. If it 's not a sport, cheerleading uniforms will continue on its path to resemble it 's NFL counter parts. If it does become a recognized sport, regulations will be required for schools and competitions; once again changing and shifting current designs. On the other hand, tennis has been, for the most part, conservative, as it was invented by rich white country-club members.
Targeting is called when a defensive play makes a hit on the ball carrier and solely aimed for their head while tackling. If called, the offense gets fifteen yards, an automatic first down, and the player that made the dirty hit gets ejected out of the game. Another one of the rules that they’ve created is known as Unnecessary Roughness. In the the football rulebook, Unnecessary Roughness is defined as “an illegal action in football where a player uses methods beyond what is necessary to block or tackle another player” (Sporting Charts 1). This prohibits players from intentionally harming the other players on the opposing team.
I am a firm believer that strong leaders can either make or break an athlete’s career. Talented mentors have the rare ability to transform a stubborn and/or tired mind to one reborn with the hunger to continue. It is an amazing feat when thought about; how could one person make such a mammoth impact that he/she could completely change someone’s thoughts? Coaching cheerleading was one of the most demanding positions I have voluntarily placed myself into, not because I believed I lacked the expertise to effectively instruct, but because I placed pressure on myself to do well; however, this was a different form of it. It was not the stress that compels me to study so I could earn an “A” on a Calculus test or intensely practice to perform a flawless routine at halftime.
Cheerleading is very fun and entertaining sport that can also be doubled as a very dangerous sport almost as more dangerous than football. Most people think of cheerleaders as being the girls who cheer on the sidelines at football or basketball teams, but it’s a lot more than just cheering at a football game. No one sees the behind the scenes actions of cheerleading, no one sees how hard we practice on a everyday basis. But in these long, hard working practices, there are injuries, some minor and some major. Cheerleading as evolved into a athletic and high skilled sport but the higher the skills reach, the bigger chance of getting injured.
