According to the Arthritis Foundation signs of rheumatoid arthritis include morning soreness joint pain, which I currently both have. I have talked with my mom about possible solutions and one day I might have to use a medication to reduce joint pain. Her method of therapy is exercise, which according to the Arthritis Foundation can be very beneficial to delay and even prevent joint issues. Beneficial exercise include stretching, yoga, weight training, and cardio. Through my mom’s knowledge of her own health and through the studies by medical professionals I can do what I enjoy and know its beneficial for me now and
Orthopedics refers to all medical procedures that involve the human musculoskeletal systems. It is usually referred to as orthopedic surgery although most of the methods used don’t involve invasive procedures. It mostly deals with muscle rubs, medications and skeletal manipulations to assist in the healing process and eliminate or reduce pain. Orthopedic procedures have gained popularity in medicine as they are used to cure conditions and ailments that lead to strained bones and muscles. The following is a close look at orthopedic surgery and what to expect from orthopedic specialists.
Simkin P (1992)2 stated that although childbirth typically concludes within a single day, women often remember their experiences vividly, even decades later. Health professionals have long understood that the childbirth process can be unpredictable. However, given a healthy outcome, the extent to which the birth environment supports a woman’s medical and psychological needs may have a major role in determining whether she is satisfied with the experience Beck CT (2011)3 stated that childbirth is a significant life event. Although most birth experiences are positive, some women perceive giving birth as a traumatic event and may even experience post-traumatic stress disorder. It is essential that nurses and childbirth educators understand how
I have been lucky and honored to work with an amazing team of pharmacists who were always there to answer any of my never ending questions. One aspect that made me fall in love with a pharmacy career was the special interaction between pharmacists and patients. Another reason I have decided to pursue Doctor of Pharmacy degree was the fact that I have seen many refugee patients who were unable to understand why they were on medications. One day, I assisted a new patient to the pharmacy who did not speak English but luckily, I was able to interpret in Arabic language. She needed to get her medication refilled, when I asked her which one, she replied "the one I take for fat".
She was selected as a Fellowship of American Academy of Nursing (FAAN). In summary, her journal explains two research studies she completed with the provided funds at her disposal. The first study incorporated King’s concept of time. Although nurses think it is more time consuming to use the bar code to scan patient’s bracelet before giving medication, it has improved the level of patient safety. Messmer’s current research study shows that communication between all members of the health care team, regardless of their position, attribute to the success of benefiting the most important person, the patient.
I am so thankful for everything I have in my life, like my family and friends, and reminding myself of that gives me a positive outlook on life. When something goes wrong, I am quick to remind myself that it can be worse, and that everything will be fine. I know that many more people have it hard out there, but appreciating what I have brings happiness into my life. My friends also give me joy, making me laugh about every little thing in our conversation. When we talk about the future, no one is pessimistic.
Nurses are often held to a higher ethical standard due to the fact that other people’s lives are at stake every single time they go to work, so if a person is willing to cheat or lie their way through their education, what risky shortcuts would they be willing to make while on the job. Cheating is not a new issue in an educational setting, but with all of the new technology, it is getting easier and easier for students. If parents and teachers start encouraging ethical behavior at a young age it could carry on into adulthood and make for more people with
I saw at first-hand the impact of diseases including, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, but more importantly, I witnessed the impact of empathy and good care had on a patient and their families. This experience helped me learn how to overcome challenges faced when caring for patients each day and it reinforced my motivation to work as hard as possible to succeed in nursing school and continue to work to care for others. The experience also provided an opportunity to act as leader since the assisted care home I worked at this past summer was understaffed due to a change in ownership and some staff changes. When my team was short caregivers, I made sure that I spent more time with each patient to ensure they did not have anxiety about the change and end up worried and feeling alone. I found that a few minutes of companionship and
Noting an opportunity to serve, I happily stepped in and translated between the patient, named Yekaterina, and the nurses. The genuine look of gratefulness in her eyes along with the constant “sposibo” of gratitude I received from her for doing such a simple deed was truly something I will never take for granted. Quite often we find ourselves falling into a daily routine, making it easy to lose sight of why we are doing what we love in the first place. After many months of volunteering at the Hollywood
Marybell came to the appointment after a job interview in which she was approved to go through training and believes she has a good chance of getting the job. Marybell still filled out a referall for supported employment services and said she felt better knowing that she would have someone to help her if this job fell through. Marybell says everything seems to be on the positive and this is helping minimize the depression and anxiety symptoms and stablize her mood. Her affect in the appointment was upbeat and happy, much more engaged than previous appointments. The lessening of symptoms was also seen by her being able to get up early to get to job interview and other appointments when she had been oversleeping and also being able to ride public
When considering my application my hope is that I have made myself transparent that I fully understand what this responsibility will entail. The American Chiropractic Association’s mission statement clearly states to “preserve, protect, improve and promote the chiropractic profession and the services of Doctors of Chiropractic for the benefit of patients they serve”. This Mission can only be reached if the treating professionals truly believe and understand the gravity of this responsibility. I am conscious to the landscape of legislation that surrounds the Chiropractic industry and hope to shed light on to the many benefits that can be gained by cooperation between the industry and government for the benefit of the patient. I have always
