Kyle Frazzette Mrs. Bouchard AP USGOV P4 January 17th, 2017 CNN: At War with the World CNN is one of the largest and well known news organizations in the country, but it isn't without its controversies. CNN is known as being extremely liberal and very bias by Republicans and Foreign Eastern Countries. CNN actually has a lot of influence with the rest of the world. CNN International is the leading international news channel in terms of reaching to viewers all over the world. CNN International uses reporters that are local and sometimes directly affected by the events they are giving reports on. The reports are a more immediate and less detached style of coverage from the ground. However this has actually not benefited CNN in foreign eyes because many countries especially the Middle Eastern countries, accuse CNN International of being a pro-American perspective. This is very interesting because in America most organizations and a lot of people view CNN of being Anti-American …show more content…
CNN created an online poll asking viewers to choose which of the party candidates they thought won the debate. Even though the poll ended with Bernie Sanders holding 75% of the vote, and Hillary Clinton holding 18% of the vote. CNN still published many articles declaring Secretary Clinton as the victor of the debate. After the poll had been shown on television following the debate, it was never shown again and was removed from CNN's website. Right after this, supporters of Senator Sanders claimed that CNN tried to bury Bernie Sanders's victory in an effort to help Hillary Clinton because of the fact that Time Warner which is CNN's parent company is Hillary Clinton's seventh largest backer in terms of money (elitedaily.com). This was very controversial and led many viewers to believe that CNN was completely bias to Hillary, who was very unpopular with a lot of people, even
During the second GOP debate Jeb Bush wanted an apology from opposing running mate Donald Trump because Trump made some rude comments towards immigration and Bush’s wife, who is from Mexico. This is bad media and one should be avoided because this is a very trivial matter in the presidential race. However, when using digital media it easy to get off the article and find a better more informative source.
The storyteller focuses on libel in the election by word of mouth and in the newspaper. The video somewhat reminds me of the most recent election in which there was a lot of libel and slander on social media sites such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook
With this bias, some of the claims made could be unreliable. It is written by a third person, someone not in the party or in the FBI, they still show bias against one
While there are always two sides to a story, both sides are not always told. CNN and FOX news are both at fault for this. CNN and FOX news exhibit bias by omission in their coverage of the Trayvon Martin case (Types). Both news groups neglected to cover both the liberal and conservative side. CNN took the stance that Trayvon was just a child, and Zimmerman was a criminal that attacked him.
Media that could reflect the real America should be based on diversity of views, pluralism of opinion as the American society. First of all, when someone provides the truth of the actual situation, that person is automatically called a “whistle blower”. There are not many of those people, which are willing to expose all secrets that would benefit the society by finding out the actual story. As Goldberg elaborates in his insider book, danger is a big risk factor to them, losing a job for example, takes a lot of courage or foolishness to do that. Goldberg states that it should be normal common sense for the media give accurate information, which surprisingly does not happened in
In an article I read days before the hearing from CNN Republican Representative Richard Hanna of New York said “This may not be politically correct, but I think that there was a big part of this investigation that was designed to go after people and an individual, Hillary Clinton.” With the presidential election in a year Republicans
The national news broadcasters interrupted all television programming in order to inform the nation of the tragic events that took place at approximately 11:19 that morning. On the news they displayed images of everything from blood splattered sidewalks in front of the school to grieving families and friends mourning the loss of their loved ones. The media was unknowingly desensitizing their viewers to tragedy, due to the fact that they would not be forced to witness so many traumatized and pained faces at one time again until some years
The terrorist attacks on 9/11 have caused many debates over the years since they occurred back in 2001. Two American planes were hijacked and ran into the twin tower buildings, another was hijacked and headed for the pentagon, but thankfully never made it. Thousands of Americans lost their lives on the days of the attacks and to this day the sorrow hangs with us. Security was a huge debate of the time because America is supposed to be the safest nation there is, so how did this happen? America had lots of changes to make the attacks on September 11, 2001.
When thinking of the media you think they are reporting the appropriate and accurate information not based on any personal opinions and feelings. Also one would not think the media would be reporting based on one side of politics or the other. The media is extremely biased when it comes to politics and news. While some of the media is conservative-biased I believe the mass media is liberal-biased. Majority of media outlets are liberal companies, media personnel and journalists will identify themselves as democrats and liberals more so than republicans or conservatives and lastly the left side (liberals) of the mass media is persuasive on what information to report.
Media bias is a real problem. When people are not aware of the facts alone, rather interpretation of facts, they are being manipulated. Media should report facts concisely and promptly with as much accurate information as possible. When networks allow to dictate how they report news, there is a much greater chance to be biased. When networks accept monetary incentives to report in a specific manner, there is a much greater chance to be biased.
Jack Mahler Mrs. Davis English 2 3/5/18 Fake News Imagine a world in which anyone can can access information instantaneously, now imagine that the people in this world that supply the information decide to use this power to spread lies faster than ever, now stop imagining because this world is actually our own. Now that the internet is more accessible than ever people are taking advantage of it to further their own agendas. A very recent example of this is pizzagate, a story about how a little pizza place in Washington DC was running a child sex ring in their basement and that the owner had a criminal record. This story was fabricated of course but the repercussions were awful. If fake news is going to continue to be a problem then we need to find a way to get people to stop people from buying into it.
Media violence has become a controversial topic in the world today. Owing to the rising technology, children are beginning to show increasing violent behaviors. The debates on the effects of media ranging from screen media, video games, and books have a long history. Due to this, there is a speculation over what is the leading cause of the increasing violence in children. Some people argue that there is a relationship between media violence and real-life violence.
Fake news - a phrase that is frequently emblazoned in the headlines. Scandals, false alarms, and of course, Donald Trump’s “fake news awards”. Clearly, fake news plays a huge part in American politics. But what many Singaporeans fail to realise is that fake news is also a pertinent, pervasive, pernicious and perennial problem in Singapore, and it is a problem that needs a solution. We define fake news as false stories that appear to be legitimate and are usually fabricated for political or financial gain.
You think you know, but you don´t. Internet can be a very good thing. But it can also be the most dangerous thing you´ll ever use. Do you really know who the person you´re talking to, is the one he says he is? How do you know you not being fouled by a man in India, trying to steal your credit card information?
Thanks to social media, access to information from all over the world has become easy. Because of the developments that social media has reached, it is no longer necessary for us to rely on receiving information from second hand sources. We are now able to access the main source of the news ourselves such as an eyewitness or video footage of the event. This can insure that the information we receive is reliable considering that many secondary news sources tend to be politically biased.
