There is an old saying in China “Nobody runs the business at a loss, but everybody scrambles to take the business of murder”. Although this saying is hyperbolic, it reflects the fact that a bunch of people risks their lives regardless of the consequence. Drinking-driving, is one of the phenomenon that causes serious consequence, but attracts millions of people to pay the price of life for it. Therefore, it worths our exploration to see why people still choose to go on undeterred by the dangers ahead. With the rapid development of modern society, people are becoming more and more fickle. And yet, it takes years to get people to believe in the danger of drunk driving and consciously give up drinking-driving decisions. Hence apart from raising self-consciousness, some people assert that by making clarity and improvement in the relevant laws and regulations, and setting a more strict level of punishment, will contribute to prevent a lot of people from taking the chance. In this case, the wise men have figured out adaptive products and services to reduce the social damage. Alcohol ignition interlock does play a role. It is a breath-test device that can stop a vehicle from starting unless the driver blows into the interlock and finds his blood alcohol concentration below the pre-set limit (CDC, 2016). The device can work effectively if the government requires those who once had a record in drunk driving or frequently engage in drinking to put it in their vehicles. Otherwise, its popularity will stay low without mandatory government regulation, since drivers are unwilling to spend more time starting their cars. Moreover, drivers are likely to establish a negative mentality under compulsory government requirement and do things in the ways that the society usually forbids. Still, this device is unable to solve the drinking-driving problem from the origin as the fundamental issue is to stimulate the spontaneous self-consciousness to ban the drinking-driving
