A third of the child population below the age of 20 are considered obese. The way Americans eat today and the lack of physical activity is leading to serious health risk that will continue to get worse as children age. Parents need help from the government to help make changes in the environment that children grow up in. such as, limiting the unhealthy advertisements targeted at children, creating safe places for children to place and exercise, and encouraging parents to prepare nutritious meals for their children as opposed to fast food (Childhood Obesity). Interagency Working Group has started making a difference by setting recommendations for foods advertised to children.
“Approximately 12.7 million, or 17 percent, of children and adolescents are obese. Unhealthy weight gain due to poor diet and also lack of exercise is responsible for over 300,000 deaths each year. Overweight children are much more likely to become overweight adults unless they adopt and maintain healthier patterns of eating and exercise” (Aacap.org). Similarly, statistics from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2011-2014 discovered that “prevalence of obesity among U.S. youth was 17.0% in 2011–2014. Overall, the prevalence of obesity among preschool-aged children (2–5 years) (8.9%) was lower than among school-aged children (6–11 years) (17.5%) and adolescents (12–19 years) (20.5%).
But there is a way. Once you are obese (as a child) then it is very hard to treat. In order to prevent childhood obesity you need to eat healthy and exersize. If you want to prevent childhood obesity, then you need to watch what they eat and drink. Instead of stocking up on snacks and junk food, stock up on delicious fruits and vegtables. Obesity is a huge problem today especially in growing children. In my opinion, times have changed by getting worse. More and more children are sadly becoming obese day by day. Many researchers and psychologist are doing studies to show how bad childhood obesity is and how it i not getting any better. Researchers and psychologist are encouraging parents and guardians to encourage their children to: Eat healthy, exercise daily and stick to a schedule.
Competitive eating is also a waste of food. “ Should we banned competitive eating ” stated, “ In a world where 805 million people go hungry every day, downing ridiculous quantities of food for entertainment seems not just wasteful but callous.” This explains that most people would rather pay someone to overeat on food, than to give food to someone who needs it.
Eating meat will make you fat Meat is rich with fats and calories, but it 's also one of the best sources of bioavailable proteins that degrade, absorb and use a food. A high protein diet can boost your metabolism to lose 80 to 100 calories per day. Several studies have shown that if you increase your intake of proteins in your diet, and decrease your intake of calories for a few hundred, you 're going to lose weight on autopilot. More proteins means increase of your muscle
Obesity has become a huge problem in America. It is not only a problem because of how unhealthy it makes our society look, but also because of how fast it is increasing. Obesity begins around the ages of 5 and 6 and can last a lifetime. Almost all studies show that if a child is obese between the ages of 10-13 then that child is most likely never going to stop being obese. The title obese is not there to offend people or suggest a person 's daily habits are bad, but just to classify a body type.

Having low food insecurity over a prolonged time can lead to permanent unhealthy eating patterns and health complications. While this has an effect on anyone that does not have food security, it has a profound effect on children who are still in their development ages. According to the United States Department of Agriculture 8.6 million children lived in households that are food insecure and 845,000 children lived in households that are very low food insecure. There should be further measures to locating the effect that food insecurity has on a child 's development. Locating the negative effects will bring attention to the matter to help stop this issue and bring the number of food insecure households down.
Kids Get The Blame for Eating A Lot but Should They? Who does not like fast food? It is unbelievable how many people wait in lines to get their burgers from McDonalds or a bucket of chicken from KFC. It is hard to believe that Kids under 10 don’t know how much weight they are gaining from big brands like these. They also don’t know what it’s made from or how could it affect their health negatively by causing them to be obese.
The latest Healthy People 2020 data shows the rate up even more at 37.7% in 2013-2014 (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2016). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated the majority of the world’s population live in countries where more people die from being overweight than people die from being underweight (2010, p. 951). According to Healthy People 2020, America has experienced this dramatic increase in adult obesity because Americans do not eat a healthy diet and do not get enough physical activity (HHS, Healthy People 2020, 2016). Since most people are overweight in the United States, they tend to pay a lot more money for their health than healthy people do. Also, overweight people have more health problems. So, the readers may try and eat less meat in order to live healthier and prevent climate change. The article contrasts the others because it provides statistics regarding human health and meat’s and dairy’s effects. It does not discuss the farmers’ effects on animals.
In any case, now we should investigate the larger picture, which is that in ten years that is a total gain of thirty pounds. This weight gain can lead to type two diabetes which is associated with being overweight and numerous health issues emerge, for example, heart attack, stroke and kidney disease just to name a few. There are so many negative side consequences for obesity and essentially, we need to commit to fighting this epidemic. I must say it is disturbing that this is the first generation of children that will live a shorter life than their parents will. I think one serious issue is that food quality has decreased in a major way because corporations want to maximize profit.
