Free Public College Education Welcome to free college! When a person thinks of going to college, they think of their financial needs, however that might not be a dilemma for them anymore. Cities in the United States are thinking of creating colleges that offer free public college education. This opportunity is a positive impact on people who want to further their education, although this opportunity has a negative impact on aspiring students. Free public college education should not be offered in cities in the United States because students’ success will decrease, the competition for jobs will increase, and most importantly taxpayers will have to pay more to support these schools. Firstly, free public college education should not be offered in cities in the United States because students’ success will decrease. If free classes are offered, students might abuse the withdraw system and continuously decide to drop out of a class, rather than worrying about having financial ramifications (Norton). As stated earlier, students success will decrease and they will not learn to develop good habits like being resilient. Additionally, people who pay for their college degree are put at risk of losing their job opportunity to a person who got their college degree for free. Furthermore, free public colleges are not free for taxpayers because they pay for students enrolled in these programs, which can also be other people’s children, rather than their own. Free public college education hurts people rather than helping people.
