“582,462 individuals are experiencing homelessness in America, an increase of about 2,000 people since the last complete census conducted in 2020” (Security.org team). Homelessness is an individual without permanent housing who may live on the streets; or in any other unstable or non-permanent situation. Why do people not help? The money may be misused, mental illness, or their concern that donations may lead them to rely on us. Some reasons that a person would not help the homeless is that the homeless are humans who deserve a place to sleep, feel good about themselves, or the person would hope for a better future. Furthermore all of them should be treated with respect because they are humans too. With a good amount of homeless people, “some might be really nice people in desperate need of someone to give them a chance” (Davis). They could be a very nice person and just need one person to give them a chance and that could make their day. Some things that a person could do is “We can support charities that give practical help, and campaign for changes in laws and attitudes''(Stearman 47). Some Christians believe that everyone has a responsibility to help the homeless and give them a place to stay. The Catechism of the Catholic Church “Love for the poor is even one of the motives for the duty of working so as to be able to give to those in need." (CCC 2444). The Church encourages that everyone helps the homeless so everyone can be closer to God. The Church believes that everyone has a duty to provide aid to the homeless as much as everyone can in their time of need to the best of their physical and financial ability, also the Church teaches that the homeless are humans too and deserve love and
