Should People Give Money to the Homeless? If you want the best for the homeless, you should not give money to the homeless directly you should give money to charities to help the homeless instead. Panhandling should not be allowed because many of the homeless people use it on drugs and alcohol. Another reason you should not give money to the homeless is because you do not know if they are fakers. Lastly, if people really want to help the homeless, give money to charities because it will help long term.
Homelessness is a crisis across America which the government has overlooked. Can you move all of your life's possessions around in a shopping cart? No, I don't think so. Your possessions are safely protected in your own house. Such luxury is not possible for homeless people in America. According to the National Health Care for Homeless Council (2015), "a homeless person an individual who lacks housing (without regard to whether the individual is a member of a family), including an individual whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility (shelters) that provides temporary living accommodations.” Homeless people are living each day filled with new emerging problems, as they try to overcome various challenges.

Although most people think that having no money makes you homeless, in fact, to be considered homeless you just have to not have a permanent home. Some statistics would be 55% unemployed, 33% alcohol abuse, 15% drug abuse, 3% physically disabled (O’Reilly-Fleming 38). Homelessness usually starts from tragic life occurrences/events, death, job loss, violence, and disabilities. On the other hand, a multitude of other things could lead to becoming homeless. The economy, the increase in housing markets and labor markets
When someone mentions the homeless we tend to picture the old man in dirty rags asleep on a bench or begging for change, but what we fail to realize is that there is a wide scope of people affected by homelessness. On a single night in 2016, 549,928 people were experiencing homelessness in the United States, and over one-fifth of those were children (Henry). We never picture children being homeless, but this is something that is by no mean uncommon, in fact, in 2016, families with children made up 35 percent of the homeless population (Henry). There are many others that are affected by homelessness including veterans, for some it is hard to fathom how we can let those who served and fought for our country to become homeless but on a single night in January 2016, fewer than 40,000 veterans were experiencing homelessness and 33 percent were on the street (Henry). This is just a narrow scope of those affected by homelessness and doesn’t even scratch the

The other half is "explicit" homelessness, such as sleeping in cars, sheds, or under bridges (Kim, 2008, para. 7). While homelessness can be known as an urban problem, it is much more than that. There are several people in our society who think homelessness are majority from adults who have never mounted to anything in their life, the divorced, the drug users, and those who have no motivation to make something better of themselves, but that is just an ideal thought. Others feel the
If there are not enough people to help, then the people in developing countries cannot receive their proper nutrition. Since the programs are also usually run on donations, when there is a decrease in donations, then the program cannot buy food, transportation, or research for the quality of the country and which foods to give to them. In a bigger picture, malnutrition in third world countries is a huge problem and by placing more nutrition programs, we can help save the lives of an abundant amount of
Reflection on the Effects of Social Exclusion in Relation to Homelessness Undergraduate Studies #1466065 University of Alberta The Effects of Social Exclusion in Relation to Homelessness Vulnerable populations experience greater health disparities due to their low socioeconomic status, leading to overall poor health and quality of life. Social determinants of health emphasize the impact society has on health and suggests ways to bridge inequalities, through the use of social supports such as the Mustard Seed. These social supports help to build relationships with people experiencing poverty in efforts to prevent social exclusion. Background On January 31, 2018, my Lab group and I attended the Mustard Seed; a non-profit organization that serves evening meals to people experiencing poverty, or homelessness, as well as providing other social resources. We helped to prepared a meal for over 140 people, consisting of pasta with lentils, cooked veggies, bread, and cookies for dessert.
