As a Junior and Senior in high school, making the decision of where I’m going to school next year is one of the most frightening decisions I’ve ever had to make. In the moment, it feels like if I make the wrong choice, my world is going to shatter apart. If I pick the wrong choice, my life is over. There is so much pressure weighing on one decision, and within that decision there's dozens of factors to consider. What types of programs does this school offer? Is this school in a desirable location? What is the schools sports teams like? Is the food in the cafeteria good? Is the school big enough or is it too small for me? All these factors depend on one larger factor: the size of the school. Thesis: Although larger universities and smaller colleges …show more content…
The person speaking for this presentation shockingly enough went over the exact same information for Hope College that I had heard regarding the opportunities at the University of Michigan: clubs, sports teams, and travel abroad opportunities. The difference this time is that I was shocked when i heard the words “travel abroad” in this presentation. Since Hope college is a small liberal arts college with less than 5000 people, I never would have thought in a million years that they would have the resources or programs that the University of Michigan had. Although they didn’t have anywhere near the amount of programs that the University of Michigan had, I was pleasantly surprised with the programs they did offer. Based on your major and what you’re interested in, counselors or other personal can help you specify certain locations and programs for you to take part in. One benefit of attending a small school I quickly learned is that you are able to receive extra one on one time with your counselors to cater to your needs and schedule. If you have a busy schedule throughout your four years and are worried about having time to experience a travel abroad program, counselors can meet with you directly and make a plan to guarantee that it fits into your schedule whether its for a semester, or a month long term after second semester. One of my biggest concerns with college is that I’ll become too …show more content…
Although Hope College doesn’t have their own medical school for students to feed into, they have one of the highest acceptance rates for students getting into medical schools, like the University of Michigan. In fact, Hope College has a 92% acceptance rate which is quite astonishing. The secret to this impressive statistic is a woman that Hope College has employed that solely puts student on a “pre med” track and helps them prepare for applying to medical school. She is there help students set up volunteer opportunities, shadowing experiences in hospitals, credits and classes necessary to graduate, and how to prepare for the MCAT. If I decided to go to Hope, it’d be a huge weight off of my shoulders knowing that I would have help navigating this stressful situation. Doing well in college classes and trying to stay focused on being admitted into medical school is hard enough as it is. Even though the University of Michigan is one of the most prestige schools in the nation and I’d receive one of the best educations, Hope colleges pre med track sounds like an offer I can’t pass
From my meeting with Ms. Christopherson on interview day, I learned that students are consistently tested on the topics being studied to ensure their expertise and confidence with the material. I highly value your three-pillar system and look forward to the opportunity to take part in the clinical simulation training that is incorporated into the curriculum. I have learned that the relatively small class size allows advanced teamwork skills and camaraderie amongst the students. I believe my education and past experiences provide me a strong foundation to excel and will also allow me to be an asset to my classmates and the university. I think I would fit very well in the program at the Sanford School of
I believe I should be accepted into to the University of North Dakota School Of Medicine because of my commitment to practicing primary rural care in the Midwest, my experience working with the underserved populations of my community, and my desire to advance medicine through research. Growing up in a small rural community, I was fortunate to have the same primary care physician. However, recently our town has experienced difficulty in hiring and retaining physicians. My enjoyment of my rural community inspires me to someday become a physician in this type of community. My commitment to serving the underserved population of my community is demonstrated through volunteering for 5 years at a clinic for the uninsured.
As I look into my future as a senior in high school, I am looking into an entirely different lifestyle. At this point of my life, I have new friends, new experiences, and I am at the peak of the excitement as a young adult. However, what I do not know is what University I will be attending to come upon this new and exciting part of my life. The two universities that I have chosen to evaluate to prepare for my attendance in the fall of 2016 are Oral Roberts University and Oklahoma Wesleyan University. I applied to both colleges and I have received an acceptance letter from each university.
B.F. Skinner once said “Education is what survives when what has been learned has been forgotten.” This makes me believe that if you educate your mind with the correct material you shouldn’t forget it. Texas Tech University has the broadest Mechanical Engineering field, and will prepare me for my career in Mechanical Engineering. To get accept to Texas Tech University one must get a score of 27 or higher on their ACT or a score of 1136 on their SAT the recommended courses include four units of English, four units of science, two units of foreign language and four units of Math to. Texas Tech University tuition is $5,277 per year for in state residents not including campus stay nor food.
Stem is an exceptional school, but it also has a large amount of poor qualities. I like that the school is known for kinesthetic learning. I am a kinesthetic learner so that aspect would create exceptional academics. Also, I know that Rae is getting in because her sister was accepted, which means I would know her and some kids from church. In contrast some parts of the school that are not as desirable are that there are no art classes.
Rhode Island College is one of many colleges in the state of Rhode Island, located on a 180-acre campus. While walking around campus glancing at the building surrounding yourself what do you see? When giving the topic to of what improvement Rhode Island College could make to better itself, finding a problem wasn’t difficult. Taking an architecture class during high school I developed a habit of whenever I walk around a new area I tend to see what can potentially be improved within the building surrounding me. When I walk around campus I see many flat roofs that aren't being used to full potential.
Persuasive Paper Rough Draft As an Early College High School student, I ensure you that this program is an amazing program designed to structure your future and help you with your future college experience and career choices. Early College is highly recommended high school for students who want to academically exceed. In these 4 years of high school you are required to take an AVID class and Pre AP or AP courses. You will also take college level courses later in the year.
So many students are going to choose the community college option and “affordability doesn’t help if a student can’t get into the right class or find help figuring out what classes to take”. Sure, there are these resources on community college campuses but when there are so many students demanding help, it will become difficult for counselors to become closely connected to the students when there are thousands of other students asking for help in their own personal way. Hiring more counselors will not be a smart idea because the campus needs to continue to spend little on every student and they wouldn’t be able to afford to pay a larger
When I was a little girl I decided I wanted to be something in the medical field. Lately, I’ve realized how hard it is to get into medical college or any college for that matter. I realized I need to start to work on stuff that could help me get
Almost all of my criteria are flexible, with one exception. I very much want to go to a small liberal arts school, or a school with a sum experience very similar to a small liberal arts institution, although I do not care if there are graduate students there. I grew up on the campus of a college like that, and I am extraordinarily comfortable with this environment and design. In a school of that size, there is often a low student to faculty ratio (10:1 or so) and this directly translates to a lot of individual attention and help from professors. I do not want it to be too small, because although I like a smaller campus, I do not want to go to a school where the student body is so small there can not be variety in the school’s population.
A child does not typically think about their lives ahead. Although they may not think about it, it is still there. Life ahead means getting a job to make money for everything else and if one wants a good job in the future, then college is the best option. College education is worth it because it makes a person better and more educated, it is not as expensive as some think, and college pays for itself once there is a good job to pay for it.
As a young college student, I am no stranger to the value of a dollar but also know that education and life experiences is also important. I want an education, but I also want to get out of my comfort zone. College is a time to find yourself and get some life experiences, and what is a better way to get some life experience and to find out what you are really made of, then by studying abroad. I am a young women, who works hard, and studies hard, and is determine to make it in this world, to make it to La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. I hope to gain a new perspective on life and gain some work experiences.
Going into a college where nothing is familiar—the buildings, the environment, the people, the accent—is intimidating. This experience is one of the most straight forward ways to become an independent
I have previously chosen a small liberal arts school in a suburban area because I thought it was a great location to explore subjects I was curious about and figure out what I wanted to do with my future. I also assumed that it was a great place to hone in on my interests because of the lack of distractions and the amount of attention one would get from a small school due to the faculty to student ratio. A liberal arts college would also be the best place to take classes that one would normally not be able to take since many schools require one to take classes solely in their designated major. During my first two years at Wesleyan University, I found out that I wanted to major in chemistry and work in a field related to it. I also found out that a small suburban area wasn’t the right place for me.
Recently the school board of Hatch Valley High School decided to close campus. Closed campus is not a good idea at all. First of all, the food they give at the school is not very good. Second, students need a time to relax and rest a little bit from school. Last, students need an opportunity to show they are responsible of themselves.
