The minimum wage should not be raised because it would increase the price for the consumer, it could harm the small businesses of America, and it could cause millions of minimum wage workers to be laid off. If the minimum wage were to increase, consumers could see a rise in prices in their products. A majority of minimum wage workers are in a high competitive market, where the companies make smaller profit. In order for companies to
Currently, the federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour, but there is a proposal of raising the minimum wage to $15 dollars an hour (Sessions). Many people are with or against the raise of minimum wage, should the United States of America raise the minimum wage? Opponents say that raising the federal minimum wage would would increase the amount jobs created, and also increase economic activity. The economic institute states that increasing the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 to $10.10 would create approximately 85,000 jobs and add $22.1 billion net into the economy (David). Business analysts and financial experts from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago concluded that by increasing the federal minimum wage would also increase accumulated household spending by $48 billion through the year boosting job growth and boosting GDP, short for gross domestic product.
Those on the opposing side of this issue may say that there will be more buying and selling if the national minimum wage was raised to $15 an hour. But those statements are false because if the national minimum wage is increased at all then the cost of living will also be elevated so people functioning in poverty will still be in poverty and nothing will change except more people falling into poverty. The only people that raising the national minimum wage will benefit would be the teenagers who are just working to earn pocket
If America makes the minimum wage $9.00, people will no longer be in poverty and it will make the economy balance out. If America raises the minimum wage to $9.00, it will help people in need or in poverty, but it also won’t hurt people in the workforce. If you increase the minimum wage to $15.00 it will make unemployment rates go high up. Which in the process, makes the homelessness rates go up in the country and in your community. If you keep the minimum wage at $7.25 people will stay in poverty and homeless or on the verge of homelessness.
It costs millions of dollars a year to pay to get rid of waste, from paying for people to pick up and drop off trash, or to the gas bill of moving the trash it costs money. The cost of moving can be expensive, but what if the cost was lowered by using vermicomposting to get rid of the majority of U.S waste, it would take up less time, take less gas to move, and overall it would cost less money. Along with the less money spent a profit is possible. Once there are too many worms they can be sold to other groups to help them start vermicomposting plants, or the byproduct of vermicomposting the fertilizer that is produced could be sold. The money used that is now freed up can go to things other things which are more enjoyable or could just be saved up for later use.
Increasing minimum wage will make workers more financially stable, if the wage doesn’t increase it will be harder for people to make a living. Many people in the United States continue to be in poverty even while working a minimum wage job. The Missouri minimum wage is $7.85, the national average nationwide is $7.25. With the minimum wage being $7.85 in Missouri a worker would only receive $1,256 a month. This income would be okay for the average high school or college student, but not for a parent who maybe didn 't finish high school and has a family to take care of.
If the people are more aware of these dangers I think their environment will much better to live in. If there are quality schools built the children will get a better education. If they got a better education there are chances that they will be smart in making the right decisions. They will make healthy life choices and be successful in their life. If health insurance is given to all even those who cannot afford can help, make a difference.
The model is supposed to bring renewed prosperity to the United States but it brought more inequality and stripped safety net programs that actually helped most Americans. This lack of assistance means that struggling people are struggling even more and they have less money to spend and to put back into the economy. Since the creation of the Better Business Climate model, government spending on food stamps, unemployment insurance, and other social programs has been cut as
Americans below the poverty line are demanding for increased pay in their minimum wage jobs. Although with the increase to fifteen dollars an hour, many Americans would be left jobless pushing them farther under the poverty line increasing the wage by over half would harm the country’s economy more than improve it. Minimum wage workers want higher wages for the work they provide, but inflation, unemployment, and businesses closing will only cause more issues for Americans. The disadvantage to raising the pay for minimum wage workers is inflation. As the workers earn more money, the product they provide increases in worth.
For an impoverished individual making only $1500 a month, the financial obstacles to fighting a winnable court case make conviction nearly inevitable. To contribute to the financial advantage the rich have, the wealthy generally commit more white collar crimes than street crimes, which are treated as lesser in the overall criminal justice system. Street crimes are far more visible than white collar crimes and those charged with street crimes are more likely to face justice than those charged with white collar crimes (Martinez, 2014).
Too the amount of government assistance can decrease. The decrease in government assistance could mean that taxes across the board can be lowered. Considering that taxes are a huge problem in this country i think that the minimum wage increase can mean happier people across the board. People don 't realize the massive amount of money we spend a year on government assistance. On average we spend $3.7 Trillion a year due to government assistance.
The minimum wage in Virginia should be increased to reflect the cost of living within the State. The number of working poor are increasing. There are minimum wage jobs available throughout the state, however earned wages are not sufficient to allow for a manageable quality of life. The current minimum wage in Virginia is $7.25 per hour, in keeping with the Federal Minimum Wage rate of the same amount. According to the Labor Law Center (2015), Virginia’s last minimum wage increase was in 2009; the wage increased from $6.55 to the current rate.
Minimum wage should be raised because the economy is at a point where if minimum wage is raised there would not be a drastic change. In a minimum wage increase to $10.10 like Obama wanted that would raise the national ratio to 50 percent. In San Francisco they raised minimum wage up to $10.74 and that has made the 40 percent city median wage. In February of 2013 Obama raised the minimum wage and one month into doing that the economy raised and got better for workers and
Applicants want to apply for the Pearl Harbor apprenticeship because they need better paying jobs. Hoover discusses how much a worker makes which is “Starting pay is about $20 an hour. That increases to just under $30 an hour for apprentice graduates” (Hoover Para 4). The amount of money a worker makes is more than the minimum wage provided in Hawai’i. How much money is that total in a year?
Report show that “Twenty-nine states, plus the District of Columbia and nearly two dozen cities and countries have set their own higher minimums.” In 2016, a survey made by a Republican stated that businesses across the country supported raising their state’s minimum wage. The rise in minimum wage throughout the United States will increase yearly based off each state’s cost of living. Paying workers more money could very well help in reducing the government welfare spending. If citizens are getting paid more money to work, their dependence on the government will no longer be
