Physical Education in Students

When it comes to students, over 30% are overweight or obese in the United States. This number should not be that high and there needs to be a change of this new generation of leaders. To solve this issue, Physical Education should be a mandatory class throughout a child 's time in school.
First, Physical Education classes have a massive benefit on student’s health. Physical Education results in students having lower body fat, greater muscular strength and improved cardiovascular and mental health. Because Physical Education benefits students health, students academic performance in also improved due to Physical Education. Higher academic levels are achieved when students perform some type of physical activity. In Catherine Carroll’s article titled, “Physical Activity Linked to Learning,” she stated that physical activity lowers stress levels and self-esteem. This results in improvement in and out of the classroom. Next, Physical Education classes improve students attendance. It has been found that students who are healthy have better attendance in school because they are not as likely to get sick as opposed to students who are inactive and have bad eating habits. This has ended up costing school districts millions of dollars. Questions have arised about how long students should participate in physical activity.
