The internet is all about the transfer of information. Not only is the internet used to distribute information, but it is also used to collect it. There is a potential danger of compromising your privacy as well as being transparent to the government and other organisations. Due to this danger, people should be more careful with how they share their data. As Edward Snowden said “Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide, is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say”. Many people would argue that this is a good thing, as companies can then advertise things to you which they think you may be interested in, which then may make the shopping experience easier for you. Although you should consider that there is the aspect of individual pricing for products which can be bad for you when you get a higher price when they realize that you are interested in the product they offer you. The more you feed the net with your personal information the more a person can get a target for of an identity thief because of the fact that if anyone wants to get your data he can gather a few information about that person to steal his or her credit card number and using it for an internet fraud. Being transparent can even threaten your life when it comes to traveling into other countries where you are chased for your behaviour and your personal view because it does not fit into their mind-set. Think about social networks, the moment you share your location with your friends could reach at least thousands of strangers and criminals as well. Most of us do not even know what consequences it has when we lose the right of privacy. A few examples are that the government has the full control of the nation. Every person has the right to bet let alone. Imagine that anyone would record you in the bedroom or bathroom every day and every night all day long, most of us would not agree of recording those things even if the things which are be done in those locations are most of the time legal. I recommend that we should definitely care more about the process how data are collected by company’s. Just prefer sometimes paying with cash than paying with a debit or credit card.
