Same-sex marriage is exactly that, same sex marriage. It is two people from the same gender who have fallen in love and have the desire to spend the rest of their life together. It is people escaping social standards and being who they truly are. It’s like the story Shakespeare wrote about Romeo and Juliet, forbidden love that had people fighting and arguing, preventing the happiness of the two lovers. Same-sex marriage is not a crime against humanity and therefore I support it.
I support same-sex marriage because it does not affect me and it allows people attracted to the same gender to be happy. They get to have the same rights straight people do. The world we live in now is so full of tragedies and sufferings. Being happy is not easy anymore for every person. This world can be cruel, especially when other people bring you down. I believe that if people are content doing something that is seen as unusual in certain cultures, we should not stand in the way. We live in a society where other people’s happiness affects us and that’s not how it should be. I am a Christian and I do not have anyone gay in my family,

Many people will complain about how their religion opposes it, that men and women were made for each other and being attracted to the same gender is a sin. They might also object by saying how a family should have a mother and father, not the same gender parents. They will argue on the fact they do not believe that a child will grow up “normal” if they do not have a parent of each sex. Additionally, same sex spouses cannot reproduce and the whole point of marriage is to procreate. People’s culture and morals will blind them into a certain opinion. However, how someone thinks or feels is never wrong. Instead, of arguing and creating more problems, everyone should come to a common ground, something everyone or at least a majority of people can agree
The three arguments that Pollitt summarize against same-sex marriage is that marriage is all about making the future generations, causing men to be less violent, and how marriages of different kinds occurred throughout history without anyone complaining. Pollitt refuted the argument of marriage just being a threshold for procreation by stating, “There’s something creepily authoritarian and insulting about reducing marriage to procreation, as if intimacy mattered
The Supreme Court kept referring back to the Loving v. Virginia case because both cases had the same principles which were equality and not having the right to marriage. According to the Supreme Court “These new insights have strengthened, not weakened, the institution of marriage.” Also “Under the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, no State shall deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” These liberties include certain personal choices which include intimate choices. Marriage is coming together for better or for worse and same sex couples should have the same right as
Same-sex marriage has a near even split of people that are for or against it. This split is seen clearly in the Obergefell v. Hodges case in the U.S. Supreme Court, where the decision was 5 to 4. The majority in this case chose to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states. This decision brought a lot of controversy from the U.S. citizens, and the controversy came from the question if the Supreme Court decision in Obergefell was the correct decision for America. The answer is no.
Why do people have a problem with gay marriage? It is not all people who have a problem with gay marriage, but there are those who believe that gay marriage is an abomination and goes against God. Others however, believe that people are just people, and it does not matter if you are gay or not. Charles Colson believes that gay marriage is the end of the tradition of marriage; especially if gay couples are able to adopt children. Katha Pollitt however, believes that it does not matter if a couple is gay, straight, or elderly; as long as they are happy together and love one another.
They also believe marriage is the union of two people who love each other and this means that no matter what gender you are you have the right to marry and denying anyone this right is in violation of their civil rights. “For example, in Loving v. Virginia, the Court invalidated bans on interracial marriage. In determining whether the same legal reasoning should apply to same-sex marriage, the Court must respect the fundamental reasons for protecting the right to marry in other cases. The Supreme Court held that this analysis led to the conclusion that same-sex couples must have the right to marry.” They are trying to change the views of how people look at marriage and that it shouldn’t be restricted to anyone no matter how long a tradition is our society is forever evolving and socialization is continuing to adapt to break social norms and the status
There is discrimination in this world to this day, there is discriminations against “people who are gay”. This discrimination is just like the Holocaust, because the Germans didn’t like the jews. I believe the gay marriage should have been approved long before it was. People need to realize judging someone because they are gay is wrong, that person is obviously an idiot. It is not up to people to judge other people because they are gay.
The main reason for Democrats defending the legalization of gay marriage is because they don’t bring in a religious aspect or bias. Religion has been the backbone of numerous anti-gay marriage views as many hate, conservative, and homophobic groups have used this excuse to attempt to deny gay people the right to marry the person they love. However, Democrats follow the separation of church and state; therefore, they have chosen to defend gay people and their right to get married as there is practically no justifiable or medical reason that proves that being gay is not right or gay people cannot raise children as properly. Democrats also understand that there are certain rights and benefits that gay people were denied before the legalization of gay marriage. The rights and benefits include tax breaks, custody of both parents in adopting, and being able to visit one’s spouse while one is in the hospital.
The debate around same-sex marriage was is a good idea to legalize it. I believe that same-sex marriage should be legal. I don’t think there is anything wrong with people of the same sex getting married. Now the concept of traditional marriage has changed and the power of love is more important than gender in my opinion.
Some societies may even punish one for being homosexual because it violates their social norms. While gay rights have improved over the years and people are more accepting than they use to be, we still have countries like Saudi Arabia and other middle eastern countries along with Nigeria and a few other African countries that execute people for just loving someone of the
My second reason for supporting LGBT/ same-sex marriage is the reason for discrimination against marriage. The UDHR article number 7 illustrates that all people are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination. Furthermore, article 1 of the UDHR also indicates that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. We should act towards one another in a spirit of a brother. By denying the same right as anybody else just because you are different is a clear form of discrimination, and it goes against the constitution.
Homosexuality is becoming more and more accepted and integrated into today’s society, however, when it comes to homosexuals establishing families, a problem is posed. In most states, homosexuals can adopt children like any other married or single adult. There are many arguments to this controversial topic; some people believe that it should be legal nationally, while others would prefer that is was banned everywhere, or at least in their individual states. There are logical reasons to allow gays to adopt children, but for some, these reasons are not enough. The main issue really is, what is in the best interest of the child?
Everyone should be able to receive the same benefits and acceptance regardless of their sexuality so granting legal marriage rights under the law must extend to gays and lesbians to ensure that all citizens enjoy full human
To most ears, it probably sounds inoffensive. A little outdated and clinical, perhaps, but harmless enough: homosexual. But that five-syllable word has never been more loaded, more deliberately used and, to the ears of many gays and lesbians, more permissiveness. Homosexual’ is the ring of ‘colored’ now, in the way your grandmother might have used that term, except that it hasn’t been recover in the same way. Consider the following phrases: homosexual community, homosexual activist, homosexual marriage.
EQUALITY FOR LESBIAN, GAY, 3 Equality for LGBT Lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, and queer community needs equality because they are humans, they need love and care, and they should be respected by everyone. This community is also known as LGBT or LGBTQ community. LGBTQ community is a group of people who are lesbians, gays, bisexual, transgender, and queer. This group of people is also known as homosexuals. This people experienced harassment, discrimination, and threat of violence because of their sexual orientation.
You can think whatever you like that is your opinion but don’t tell them they’re wrong for being gay. People can do what they like, even if others don’t
