The root of the major causes of school apathy is the ineffective curriculum used in schools all over the country. The current curriculum is designed to make all students college bound; however, not all students are going to attend college. For the students going straight into the workforce after high school, high school is viewed as a waste of time. According to a study performed by William J. Stull, the salary earned in the early workforce is not notably affected by the skills taught in high school (18). This fact justifies these students’ apathy toward school.
Imagine getting a call from your daughter during the school day, her saying, “Hey, mom/dad, I need you to come get me, they said my outfit is too distracting.” Leaving home or work to pick her up or bring her new clothes because others can not focus. What was your daughter wearing, leggings, she was wearing leggings. Dress codes are too controlling, it is sexist toward women and unfair on students. Public school dress codes are made to restrict certain clothing that students are allowed to wear, this can be good and bad, but people take it way overboard. Many schools have school uniforms for reasons such as showing school spirit, safety, and to reduce bullying.
So, in conclusion these are two good reasons why some people are against school uniforms. My first rebuttal to the first argument that people against school uniforms (which the argument would be “it takes away freedom of expression “) is again, kids can still accessorize with certain things when they must wear uniforms. The Administrators at schools aren’t requiring uniforms to take away kid’s freedom of expression they are there because kids feel more comfortable knowing that they are all wearing the exact same thing so that there will be less bullying or that the more school spirit that the kids bring to school each day that they come to school. There are so many ways that kids can express
Everyone says that it’s so hard, or so much work, but if you stay on task and pay attention in class it’s not that bad. I was one person to struggle in middle school grade wise, but since I was told that high school would be so much harder, I’ve paid a lot more attention in class and done all my work. Another thing I would tell the current eight graders, is that you don’t need friends to get through high school. It’s understandable if you want to have friends so you’re not lonely all the way through high school, but you don’t need them and its better if you don’t have them so it’s easier to pay attention in classes and get more work done
Many people argue that the public school system does not help students get ready for real world jobs. Testing in schools is the biggest issue people have; students try to cram knowledge into their brain for a test the usually forget all the information soon after. This tactic is used by students because that is the only time they will ever need that information. If students were taught tips and skills that could help them succeed in future jobs, students would cherish those skills and be able to use them to be successful in jobs. The Denver post produced a cartoon that was sketched by Mike Keefe, to show how kids are not prepared for jobs because of the school system.
Are Plaid Skirts and Button Down Shirts Really Necessary? Imagine having to wear a plaid skirt or a button down shirt and tie every single day of school. Being forced to wear a specific uniform to a public schools can severely impact students and their families. With the growing amount of public schools choosing to require uniforms, more and more people are speaking out against this action. Students should not be required to wear uniforms in public schools because they limit self-expression, they cause students to feel self-conscious, and they are expensive.
Why Students Shouldn’t Have to Wear School Uniforms Regan Narine couldn't have been more eager to get through his first day of 3rd grade at Athlos Leadership Academy- “I was excited to meet my teacher, get new friends but instead I was sent home.” He and his little brother Rayshawn were pulled from class in the morning for not wearing the school logo on their shirts. US schools with a minority student population of 50% or more are four times as likely to require uniforms than schools with a minority population of 20%-49% and 24 times more likely than schools with minority populations of 5%-19% (US Department). Although school uniforms are thought to help students fit in, actually it denies their first amendment of the US Constitution stating that every person maintains the right to express themselves, verbally or by they way they
For example, the way they match the colours or the way they layer their clothes. Students might feel frustrated if they are required to wear uniforms every day because they do not get to dress up or glam up themselves to school. Sometimes they might think school is boring because everyone looks the same every day, every year. Students think they should have the freedom to express themselves because school is their biggest social area and they should be able to bring up themselves the way they want because they all are different and
The more it happens, the worse it gets, and it is not cool. Don’t you hate when you have to call your parents in the middle of a school day and ruin their day by telling them you disrupted someone else’s? It overall depends on how schools enforce discipline, but it can get ugly in some schools. Positive School Discipline is the best way to lead a school because it can lead to less suspensions and expulsions, it can help teach students better ways of acting rather than making them feel like
Showing the Year 1 understudies is exceptionally troublesome when they are not able to speak Bahasa Malaysia. Nearly, understudies who had the chance to go to kindergarten indicate quicker learning procedure and dependably perform generally superior to the individuals who did not go to kindergarten. Possibly because of the miscommunication in the middle of educators and understudies, as far as guidelines in classroom, for example, no talking in class and don't leave the classroom without authorization, a few understudies have grumbled that they generally been rebuffed by their
