There is something so serene about being in the mountains. I long for summer days filled with sights of bears and their cubs walking along the river and nights hearing wolves teach their pups how to howl. I’ve spent every summer camping since the age of 8. My best memories have been created because of these beautiful creatures. This an experience that is being taking away from people in Alaska because of a ban recently lifted that allows people to target bears while in hibernation and kill wolves and their pups while they are sleeping in their dens. Targeting sleeping animals is cruel and inhumane because they are not able to defend themselves nor do they see it coming. This is not hunting these animals cannot run away from this. Well one might say to themselves “Why should I care? It does not make difference if they’re alive or dead.” Think about the butterfly effect, everything has a cause and effect in this world. If we keep allowing others to kill these defenseless animals, soon there might not be any left in the wild. If this were to happen, there would be a possibility of an increase of the animals that bears and wolves eat which can affect the earth we live on negatively. Bears and wolves are hunters. They hunt animals such as deer, elk, rabbits, and rodents. If there were to be an increase of rodents it can do major damage to the ecosystem. Rodents are known to carrying diseases. Imagine having an infestation of rodents all because someone decided it is okay to kill bears and wolves. Many people would die from the diseases carried by these animals. Also, another possibility that can happen is an increase of deer, elk and rabbits. These animals are known to eating plants. Plants in our ecosystem produce oxygen. If there is an increase in deer there will be a decrease in plants. No oxygen means no air for us to breathe and guess what that means? No more oxygen, no more people on this
