If you went around asking people at school if they participated in any type of sport or athletic. “No” will be the most common answer. That can be more many reasons. Most people see athletics as a waste of time and an inconvenience. Unfortunately, not many kids or adults know about the tremendous benefits of participating in athletics. They don’t know that it can help you become a better individual. Everybody should participate in some form of team athletics for it allows you to make connections, get in shape, and learn life lessons. First of all, participating in team sports enables you to make tons of friends. Almost everyone of my friends today, I have met through some type of sports. These friends already share similar interests with me because we are both playing the same activity. This leads to a much better connection. An excuse people will use is that they don’t like the other players on the team. When you are working together and trying to win games, you will automatically connect with them. Playing sports results in tons of exercise. Not only will that make you feel good about yourself, exercise also helps you to control your weight, and build muscle. I have also learned through experience that exercise helps you sleep better as well. A big excuse that I have heard people make is that they don’t want to get injured. Getting seriously injured while playing a sport is actually quite rare. The advantages of participating in a sport outweighs the chance of injury.
