Helping society Remy de Gourmont once said,¨ There is no doubt that the supporters of the death penalty have more in common with the murderers than itś opponent.¨ There are nineteen states that have abolished the death penalty because they declared it unconstitutional. The dates that the states have abolished the penalty range anywhere from 1884 to 2016. Although the death penalty can brutally punish people for their wrong doing, the death penalty should be abolished because it goes against many religions, some are falsely accused crimes they did not commit, and the cost is outrageous. While it is true that the death penalty punishes people for their wrongdoing; however, it goes against many religious beliefs. In the Bible it reads, “In light of the word of God, and thus of faith, life--all human life--is sacred and untouchable. No matter how heinous the crimes ... [the criminal] does not lose his fundamental right to life, for it is primordial, inviolable, and inalienable, and thus comes under the power of no one whatsoever.¨(The Bible). This shows that Christianity has never supported the idea that man shall kill another man. The Bible was written hundreds upon thousands of years ago and no one should be punished so severely. Therefore a person might have done something so terrifying, but they should be punished the same way as everyone else. Life should be untouched even if the people hurt the well being of others. Everyone deserve to keep their unalienable rights. n
