Many people in today’s society with low income wonder how they would feed their children, pregnant women who cannot afford formula for their baby, and a decent place to stay. Today, there are poor mother’s in the society who worry about is there baby going to have formula, some even worry about if they have all the information to meet the standard to get the free program. Some people today with low income cannot afford a place to stay or do not have enough money to pay high rent every month. Some wonder if they can apply for Section 8 housing program would they be accepted and receive the free benefit. Welfare is a great program that offers different program the help low income people. With the card you never get money back from the card. Many people go buy groceries and try to refund the food but the money will be transfer back to the food stamp card. There are 4.6 million American today are on food stamps. There are no limit of children that can be added on your food stamp if there are under age of 18 and over 50 years old. Some people with low income do not have any dependent in a home, but they can still receive SNAP for 3 months in 36 month period. Also elderly people can get SNAP benefits at the age of 60 year old and older, they got to have a certain amount of money in their bank account and income. There is also an income limit most household have to meet a monthly gross income test and a monthly net income test to be eligible for SNAP benefits. A household with one or more elderly or disabled person only have to meet the net income test. SNAP counts cash income from all like payroll taxes are deducted, Social Security, unemployment insurance, and child support. Household with and elderly or disabled people must have an asset of $3,250 or less
