Have you ever wondered which sport to play? Even though there are many sports to choose from, I think people should play baseball. Baseball is a game that you play on a field called a diamond. You play offence and defence. When you are on offence, you hit the baseball that the pitcher throws to you. On defence, you try to catch the baseballs that the other teams hit. People should play baseball because it makes them stronger, it helps people make new friends, and it helps keep people healthy through exercise.

Being involved in sports teaches vital life lessons that will promote you to overcome challenges you endure in everyday life. The passion and leadership required in the sport of softball reflect the qualities to be successful in my education. My life-long experiences in softball have helped me develop into the person I am today in pursuing my academic career. All my life, I have seen the game of softball as an opportunity to improve my life. Whether it be on or off the field, softball has taught me life skills certain people can only imagine learning. As a sassy 6 year old playing Tee-ball, I can remember giving attitude to other teams since we were losing. My coaches scolded us for unpleasant attitudes regarding losing. It bothered me that others were winning. On the other hand, it taught me to work tirelessly towards a winning goal and to be untroubled of other’s successes.
For female and male athletes alike, softball is a fun, enjoyable sport that can be played at almost any age and any skill level. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) admitted the popular sport in 1996, but eliminated it after the 2008 Olympics (Softball, n.p.). The IOC viewed the sport as too American for the Olympic stage (Associated Press, n.p.). Softball should be an Olympic sport again because it meets all requirements, is popular in most of the world, and does not have any other International competitions.
Baseball is one of the hardest sports to play in the world. Basketball, Volleyball, and Soccer are difficult sports to play as well. However, softball is considered by many to be easier than baseball. Softball has statistically been proven to be more difficult than baseball.

When I was younger, I always wanted to be someone famous like a singer, an actress, or even an astronaut. But one day I came across a sport, but this was not just any boring sport to me, it was a sport that I knew I wanted to do for a career or even until I grew old. It might just be a ball and bat to some people but to me it felt more than a sport. It felt like an endless vacation from everything going bad in my life. That sport is softball. But I knew something that felt so wonderful has to have some challenges.

As a student in highschool, I contribute to numerous teams. I participate in cheerleading for varsity football and basketball. For cheerleading we all work together and create cheers and dances that we perform at games. We also are assigned to compose cheers by ourselves to teach the whole squad. I have been a cheerleader for three years now. To be on the cheerleading squad there is a required try out. For the tryout you perform a dance, cheer, and three chants within a small group. The other requirements are that you assemble a cheer and perform it by yourself along with three to four jumps. At my last tryouts I made varsity for football and basketball cheerleading. Another team that I participate in is volleyball. I have played volleyball for six years now. Our volleyball season can revenue three months longer. This past season I was on the junior varsity team. In the upcoming season I will be playing on the varsity team. These teams prepare myself for my future because they help me learn how to collaborate with others.
Baseball is considered by many to be America’s favorite pastime. Softball in many aspects is similar to baseball but in reality it is harder to play. This can be shown in all aspects of the game from hitting to pitching to fielding to catching.
I like to spend my time outdoors, playing softball; it’s very important to be outside because you can enjoy the nature’s God has given us. Being outside is very soothing; it helps to focus on the important things in life. Nature is like a second home to humans. We can survive on our own in nature because we can live on the resources that are provided by nature.
For the last eight years, softball has shaped my life and taught me many things about leadership, sportsmanship, and how to work as a team. Softball has always made me happy, it’s not just the sport that makes me happy, but it’s the place that I get to go and the people that I get to play it with. Every time I’m on the field or in the cages I feel the most content. The softball field and cages are my sanctuary.
One ball, one bat, one glove, and one great team of 9 girls is all you need to play my passion. I play softball, and I admire Jennie Finch because she loves softball just like me. Jennie is a famous pitcher, and I am a pitcher for my team, I would like to be just as fast and accurate as Jennie. Some day, I would like to meet Jennie and learn more about softball from her.
“Play for the name on the front of jersey, not the back.” A popular quote for sports players. What does it mean? Anyone who’s seen any sports game with a team uniform would know that the team name is located on the top of the front side of the jersey and the player’s last name goes on the top of the backside of the jersey. So, the quote means play for your team and not for yourself. This kind of philosophy is something that you can get only from sports, but I’m only interested in playing one sport. Or should I say, lucky for my dear parents, I only want to play one sport. How could you possibly pick just one, out of all the variety? It was a challenge, but I managed to pick softball.
