Imagine you are stuck in a jail cell, blindfolded. You are forced to do ever anyone says, and you do tricks for other amusement. That’s how a whale in captivity feels all the time. Whales shouldn’t be held captive because whales are taken from their families, whales are forced to do shows, and most importantly whales have to live in to small tanks which can be harmful to the whale. One thing Seaworld isn’t telling us is that they take whales from their families in the wild. When whales are taken from families they are lost forever. When a whale is taken from its pod, ( families lived in pods) the whale could have some negative effects. Every pod has their own way of speaking with whistling and shrieks. When a whale is captured, trainers start to force whales to do stunt. The whales are forced to perform to people for money. According to Richard Bloom, “ Keeping orcas in captivity for human amusement must end. Forcing these intelligent creatures around is not right. ” This stated that forcing whales to do unnatural thing such as flips can be unhealthy for many whales. Almost all whales die of bacteria in the lungs or lack of exercise.While Seaworld claims that these shows inspire children, the whales are getting sick. The whales are forced to to tricks for food. Whales in the wild live old and healthy to about the age of 30 - 60. In captivity, whales have a slim chance of that. Whales in captivity live 3 to 15 years. Clearly this is not right. I think whales in captivity should be banned.
