Homework is hard on teachers, but even harder on students and children some people say if kids could actually receive the mindset of actually being able to call it a day and be able to get home and have their freetime but instead they have to wait until homework is finished to start freetime a quote from “Wwhy kids under age 14 dont need homework” by Justin Coulson “Research has demonstrated that it “overwhelms struggling kids and removes joy for high achievers.” A 2002 study found a direct relationship between time spent on homework and levels of anxiety, depression, anger, and other mood disorders and issues”, this evidence shows that kids are getting excited to go home after a long day of school but when they get home they need to do homework before their finally free and that that extra bit of time spent on homework is causing stress and other issues for children at young ages and continues throughout higher grade
Going to work is not fun, and doing homework is not fun. A solution to this problem would be to play games with the student and ask them questions to certain topics and/or questions. This way the teacher can grade the student on participation, you could also have the teachers speak about the subject in a fun and exciting way to grab the students attention. You want to be patient with them and be consistent and have a trusting relationship with them because, if they are suffering depression, anger issues, then they think think that the teacher is gonna failed them. It is best to have a teacher tutor them for whatever is their weakness that needs to be worked on for the children. They want to help them as the best that they possibly can to help them pass, but we want them to know that we care about who you are and we just want to help you to learn something before you move on to the next grade and for the future. According to John Bishop, “School and homework show students the important life lessons, such as how to read and communicate with others, that they will use as an adult.” Students can learn how important planning, staying organized and taking action is just from doing homework. Homework gives the students an opportunity to learn how to work independently. Although I understand that assigning homework is not beneficial at times, I still believe that assigning homework can teach students many skills and even help teachers. Assigning homework to students is constructive, therefore teachers should assign homework because it allows students to gain responsibility, time-management, perseverance, self-esteem, homework also gives students a chance to review the class material, and it also helps teachers determine how well the lessons and materials are being understood by their students.
Teachers are only causing themselves more stress by assigning homework. “Worksheets and assignments have been assigned merely out of a sense of obligation to dole homework to students” (Graham). Teachers aren’t required to assign homework, but they do it because they think it’s necessary. Teachers who give homework to students need a very good reason for dragging out their school day
The quote above from “Improving Adolescent Literacy: Content Area Strategies at Work” by Douglas Fisher and Nancy Frey, squares with my thinking because I believe giving reading assignments to students must be purposeful. In my grade years, I would always get irritated with my teachers for assigning reading without purpose. I believe teachers should give worksheets to the students when they assign reading. Assigning worksheets that go along with the text helps the students read more in depth. It also shows the students what they should be focusing on which helps the students understand the material.
Oftentimes, teachers give out loads of homework that are not essential to student learning. Some people believe that homework teaches students discipline by teaching them time management. This study shows quite the contrary, writing “[e]xcessive amounts of homework [...] teach students to take shortcuts, rather than instill in them discipline and time-management skills” (“Is Homework Beneficial to Students?” n. pag.). When students receive busy work they often turn to their classmates for answers or go through the assignment hastily and without effort.
My first rebuttal to the first argument that people against school uniforms (which the argument would be “it takes away freedom of expression “) is again, kids can still accessorize with certain things when they must wear uniforms. The Administrators at schools aren’t requiring uniforms to take away kid’s freedom of expression they are there because kids feel more comfortable knowing that they are all wearing the exact same thing so that there will be less bullying or that the more school spirit that the kids bring to school each day that they come to school. Do people want these poor students deaths on their hands? Many argue that homework positively affects students because it helps students with skills needed later in life so it seems. “If teachers want to bring their students outside, it will be only for educational purposes and will include studying,” said Bain Principal Margaret Carpenter. My point is if they had children who were pulling bad grades they should bring them in and have them spend half of recess learning the skill in private it would prove useful. And if children were still skipping the class you should take their Related Arts time to teach the skill if they are still not paying attention to you help then have a tutor bring them into the library or classroom with their lunch and work on the skill they will learn one way or another. You could also have kids come in early during the morning and work or send notes to parents telling them their child must stay after school to learn. As you see children are restless and need good health.

Teachers are giving you pratice test after practice test trying to get you ready for the real one when they should be trying to teach you what you need to know for those tests. In the classroom,there are more opportunities for people to learn at their own pace and in their own way,but when taking all of the test they are required to take,it makes it harder and harder for that to happen,”It has been suggested that performance assessments, popularized as an important component in educational reform movements, will reduce differences among groups because they provide students with hands-on opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of how to solve problems rather than requiring students to simply recall facts” (Shavelson 4). When people are in any classroom setting they would much rather learn things to help them in their future they just recall facts that have no relevance to their lives or career choices. Preparing and studying for a test that revolve around topics that have no purdance in your life as well as a waste of time and money,yes in school you have to learn some things that you most likely will never use but that comes with being in school,but having a whole test revolve around things you will not need is just a waste. Easy work isn’t going to change the student 's mindset. This will just make it harder for the student to learn new things, difficult things, as in this case they would want to give up and not try. Dweck also states, “Kids need to be given hard problems, instead of being rewarded for easy problems” (22). Difficult work is what needs to be given to students to help them learn and the process of making mistakes. Students need to know that making mistakes is sometimes ok.
So why not let them better prepare themselves by reading a more challenging and mature book. Therefore, I believe that school board members should not ban books from the school library because, students can get more of a challenge from certain books, you also can get many life lessons from a more mature book, and students also get more of a choice which means more books to read. So I think it is completely wrong to ban books from the school
