Also, when doing homework kids are building good time management skills. Additionally, by building good time management skills kids will be able to manage their amount of homework well, and still have time to have fun. Overall, by doing your homework it will help with most of your life
Teachers consider homework to help students better understand the subject matter. Teachers also assume the homework so the students will learn back at home. But did you know that giving homework too much and too much is not good. Here are some reasons why teachers should not give homework to students. The first reason is can stress the student.
Is homework becoming too much? Every day students spend hours upon hours doing homework every night and stressing out if they aren't able to finish it. The first form of homework was given as a punishment to the kids that would act up in class. The teacher would give them extra school work to take home and do instead of being able to go home relax and have fun. Although homework can help increase understanding of new topics this kind of practice is not helping students because it can interfere with sleeping, stresses kids and teenagers out and can cause depression, and even make a kid give up on school altogether.
Oftentimes, teachers give out loads of homework that are not essential to student learning. Some people believe that homework teaches students discipline by teaching them time management. This study shows quite the contrary, writing “[e]xcessive amounts of homework [...] teach students to take shortcuts, rather than instill in them discipline and time-management skills” (“Is Homework Beneficial to Students?” n. pag.). When students receive busy work they often turn to their classmates for answers or go through the assignment hastily and without effort.
Homework takes too much time out of the lives of students. I propose we ban homework for the following reasons: it prolongs the school day and it gives students and teachers an added measure of stress; it doesn’t help students learn the concept that is being taught; and kids have other responsibilities and activities after
Homework, what is it good for? Why should elementary students have to do homework? When children come home from school with homework their parents make them sit down to do that work after they have spent 7 hours in school learning with minimal breaks. Children are mentally exhausted but ancy do to a lack of exercise. Conflict between children and their parents usually results because the former want down time and the latter fear their child won’t have a good life without good grades.
It is true that most people think that kids have plenty of free time; however, this is not entirely the case, as homework takes time away from other leisure activities or house chores. According to Heather Shoemaker, author of Why Parents Should Not Make Kids Do Homework, “Children rebel against homework because they have other things they need to do. Holler and run. Do family chores. Go to bed early.” This shows that students need this time to do other activities such as sports, hanging out with friends, and being with family, and not worry about their homework grade.
Most importantly, kids with homework often don’t complete it by themselves. Usually they need help from a parent or teacher. But, if they are struggling and on their own, they will be sitting there for hours stuck on their homework. If they are not given help they are stranded in a world of confusion and get stuck. If you add it all up, homework not only hurts kids mentally, but physically also if they are not allowed to do sports because of
