In addition to this, if there are more people staying after school, they would need to hire more bus drivers which would mean an increase in money that is being used every day or even every school year. Therefore, there shouldn’t be a later start time to the school day because it would affect after school activities. The final piece of evidence to support the claim that school should not start later as a result of it affecting after school activities is from Achieve 3000 titled,”Bright and Early...or Not?” and it states,”Many are concerned that a later school day will cause problems. Students may have less time for after-school jobs, athletics, or other extracurricular activities.”This piece from Achieve 300 shows that for the many people that have after school activities, they will have a hard time in getting the amount of time that is needed for that activity. If the students have an activity after school, it’s going to be harder to do it if they are given less time as a result of later start times for

Another reason is most jobs available today, start at early times and if students don’t start learning now to go to sleep at a decent time and get up early, will they ever? If people are used to having to get up at 8:30 am to go to school and then they all of a sudden have to go to work at 6:30 am, they will most likely be late. Most places of employment take being on time very seriously so they could potentially lose their job if they don’t come to work on time. So that is why the divide between parents who want school hours to stay the same and who want school hours to start later is split pretty
The previous time that students have to get up to get ready for school. “If you think it 's too hard to return schools to healthier house, here’s a sampling of schools in 45 stated that have done it already or are doing it in the next school year. While some of these schedules aren’t ideal, they all give students a chance for healthy sleep than the typical American middle school and high school. Hundreds of school communities across the USA-and beyond- have found ways to make this happen by prioritizing health and learning.” While starting school early gives students more time for after school activities, schools should start later because attendance goes up, depression goes down, and there are
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine asserts that early school days lead to accidents along the roads, depression among the young teenagers, and upsurge in poor performance academically for middle and high school students. Teens struggle through the challenge of waking up very early in the morning so that they can be at school at the right time. Research implies that teens should get at least eight to nine hours of night sleep for their good health. Various sponsors such as the American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control have the strong advice on why schools should start later. Nevertheless, by being able to sleep more before school starts, students will be able to become well rested, more attentive in classroom settings, and perform better as learners.
Almost 40% of high schools start class before 8:00AM which can lead to sleep deprivation in teens. A normal middle or high school student is lucky to get 6-7 hours of sleep when they should be getting 8-10 hours each night. About 30% of students report falling asleep in class at least once a week according to time.com (page 1). For a long time lots of parents have tried to get a later start to the school day for teenagers, but so far most of them have not been successful. It is obvious that later start times would correct a lot of problems and help people pay more attention in
Do you remember when school would start later in the day instead of early, wait, that never happened. An issue in schools today is whether schools should start early or later. Many schools start early and others argue that starting early can negatively affect students. Schools should start later because it can be more beneficial towards the student's academic skills and to just be more awake or aware in classes. The opposing side of the argument says that school should start earlier in the day.
I’m pretty sure most people hate getting up super early in the morning to get to school. Am I right? Well I think it’s the worst! In my opinion, I think school should start later because it is better for one’s health and it’s better for students’ concentration in class. One other reason why school should start later is because it is more convenient.
Sleeping Schools Countless students all over the US struggle to keep their eyes open throughout the day because school classes start too early in the morning. If we were able to give an hour to students in the morning, we would see an increase in their physical mentality, their academic skill level, and an overall happier lifestyle. Many people will argue that starting school too late in the morning will cause after school activities -- such as sports and other clubs -- no time to meet before the night ends. But I must mention that we don’t need to push the start time that much later to see a huge improvement on student’s test scores, overall grades, and a student’s mood. The current school start time is unacceptable when thought about logically, and we must make the changes to have school start at a later time.
There has been polls that prove that starting school later on in the day will help adolescents physically and mentally. This proves that it would make teens lives easier since research was conducted and it was also proved school starting later will benefit us teens. We always need the best for teens, especially when at school. Lastly ¨Support for sleeping in? Half of parents favor later school start times for teens¨ also states, ¨Teenagers are chronically sleep-deprived and that can negatively impact their health and well-being.¨ If we simply switched the time school starts by an hour or so, teens would have a healthier mindset and wellbeing.
