The compact crowd chanted several victory songs as the Athletes entered the massive football field. David was a 27-year-old football player that played for an unpopular team in the city of Bededouro, Brazil. The Athletes in this team struggled to make enough money to feed their whole families and live a comfortable life. This wasn’t an easy life. Having to relay on your own teammates so you could live a cheerful life with at least some luxury sometimes really made you think twice about playing football. Most football players didn’t have a choice anyways. They didn’t have any other job and could only play football for this indigent team.
The whistle blew and the match started as all the players started moving around the field with great passion.

“We are aware of your victorious goal yesterday. We are here to inform you that many sport companies around this region of Brazil are very impressed. Many of them want to personally sponsor you and use you as part of their sports program. Since these companies are very successful and very wealthy, you will be paid an exceptional amount of money to represent them. Soon as your carrier continues you will have a greater chance of playing for a superior football club. We understand that this club is only paying you a limited amount of money and barley enough to provide you and your family with luxury.” David looked back at them with confusion and asked; exactly what amount will I be receiving if I get sponsored by this company?” “You will firstly receive 1 million dollars in your credit card account.” In fact the company already gave it to you, now you just have to agree and sign the companies paper,” the two men responded. David quickly signed the paper, closed the door, and rushed to his wife with excitement. The sleepiness that he had a couple of minutes ago now faded into enthusiasm. He couldn’t believe what he had just achieved and what he could share with his family. David believed nothing better could ever happen to him in his whole life. Waking up his wife, he told her the wonderful news. She popped out of bed and hugged her husband with
A Need for Change Anticipation builds while players’ line in formation. Electric seconds pass while the quarterback yells the play. Shockingly, the players’ crash together in an explosion of energy, aggression, and sod. Televisions across America play this scenario over and over every Sunday during football season. Enthralled by the sheer athleticism and excitement of the sport, fans watch religiously, eyes glued to the screen.
When the Star Spangled Banner plays during any event, people decide to stand up and show their dignity. Recently in the NFL many players have decided to take a knee during the playing of the anthem. When the national anthem plays, wherever you are, people should stand up and show their respect. Kneeling during the playing of the national anthem is a disrespect to our country. President Donald Trump stated, “It’s important that NFL players stand for our national anthem next game.
While some believe that athletes should have their own choice at making a decision to go pro straight out of high school, they should not do so because they will not be able to manage their million dollar contracts respectively. Speaking of contracts, the NBA should eliminate guaranteed contracts for rookies drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. They should do this because a careless high school kid, could just go into the draft not knowing, or caring on how much they are going to make, with the lack of experience on handling millions of dollars. This is very unrepsonsibible for a teenager, and not only for the high school athlete, but also for the basketball association as well. This is because of there noncommitment to have these players
A Rhetorical Analysis of “The Education of Dasmine Cathey” Writer, Brad Wolverton, in his article “The Education of Dasmine Cathey” first appearing in The Chronicle of Higher Education, conveys the journey of a former University of Memphis football player who was poorly educated and how he struggled to be academically eligible. Wolverton’s purpose is to illustrate the widespread of educational shortcomings of NCAA athletes and the complicated ways athletes struggles gets brushed under the proverbial carpet. As an in-coming freshman who hadn’t played on a school team in middle school, I was at a disadvantage because I was behind in skills and didn’t know many of the tricks. Fortunately, the coach saw my potential and I made the varsity team. My coaches and teammates continually pushed me and helped me become an even better player than I was before. Over the course of my four years on the team, I faced several obstacles that made me feel weak and inadequate, but to overcome them I reminded myself that I loved soccer. The biggest obstacle I faced was getting a concussion my junior year.

Being shoved to the ground and coming up with a mouthful of turf and a bloody nose isn’t the ideal way to spend a friday night, but for me, it's something I put blood, sweat, and tears into. Soccer has been a passion of mine since my father dropped me off at the local YMCA when I was at the tender age of four. Spending all of my free days for thirteen years running after a soccer ball is arguably what made me into the person I am today. Unity, tenacity, passion and pride have all been morals that are valued within the sport and in my own philosophy. I have explored places I’d never give a second thought to because my sport took me there.

Every kid is a winner. No matter what the score is, the final result or whatever happened on the ice, field, pitch or court, every kid is a winner. At least, that is what participation medals are teaching young kids. When I played youth sports, which is roughly three years ago, we didn’t want to be rewarded because we signed up to play. We wanted to be rewarded after reaching a milestone; first, second or third place.
