Somewhere in this world, a young girl is getting married to a man twice her age. At a very young age, she is expected to submit herself to the person she will spend the rest of her life with. I ask everyone in this room, how do you expect a child to commit in a relationship? to commit in a marriage? Ladies and gentlemen, madam chair child marriage should be banned and should never be tolerated. Why? Because first and for most children should be given the freedom to have a childhood for themselves.

“We protect the innocence of children because children are very sensitive and are easily impacted by trauma. There is a progressive way of slowly introducing children to difficult facts of life. Parents must protect their childrens’ innocence so that the progression of information can be conveyed in a manner which is not as upsetting, fear-causing, or traumatic. The innocence of a child is protected so that they grow up as naturally unaffected by preventable unwanted inputs as possible” as stated in an article at www.quora.com . Children should grow up in a friendly environment where they can develop themselves and build character and potential. They must grow up surrounded by the love of their parents and not by the person whom they are suppose to spend the rest of their life with. We must prevent them from scarring themselves from a traumatizing experience so they can live a life where they can play and learn and do things only a child can do.
