According to all laws of aviation, the bee should not be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway, because bees don’t care what humans think is impossible. If you have ever seen the bee movie you would know that when the bees were not pollinating the flowers, trees, and all other plants suffered. Even though the movie is animated, it is a great representation of what our environment would look like without bees. The bee population has been declining over the past few years. The bee movie is basically what would happen if we did not have bees. They are great pollinators and they spread seeds. If we didn’t most of the plants we have, including farm crops and any type of garden, would die off. If all the plants die off the animals that eat the plants will die off and then would follow the animals that ate those animals and so on. This is why we need to start raising bees, not just for the bees, but for plants and the environment. …show more content…
There are seven main steps to start raising bees. The first step is to research local beekeeping regulations and ordinances. You should always research local regulations because you have to see if it legal to raise bees in your area orif you need to get a license. One example of beekeeping regulations and laws are in New York, New York article 161.01 sec. 12 states,” All persons keeping honey bees must file a notice with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, on a form provided by the
This project was chosen to investigate the decline of the honeybee and the impact on Australian agriculture. The honeybee decline is interconnected with environmental sustainability with key environmental challenges threatening the future of the honeybee and the industry of beekeeping. Some of these factors such as land degradation, limited water availability, loss of plant biodiversity, climate change, pests and pesticides loss of public lands such as National Parks, State forests and reserves, all impact on the sustainability and ecosystems which the honeybee depends and likewise, the ecosystems depend on the honeybee. With the disappearance of land to urbanisation and government restrictions on access to public lands some 70% of Australian
Without bees, there would not be as much food for humans to survive. Even though we need bees to survive many people go on with their day not ever thinking of what can save the bees. They use pesticides to grow their grass, never buy organic food or honey, and even kill bees that come near them. Scientist today started working on many different experiments to help save the
One of the big environmental issues here in Connecticut over the past few years is the high dying rate of bees. It has been reported by some of our local beekeepers that they are losing about 30% of all honeybee colonies each winter. This has adversely affected Connecticut’s almond, apple, strawberries and alfalfa productions, and costing millions annually. Scientists have identified several possible causative factors which include global warming, habitat loss, parasites and insecticides. Ethical extensionism, the argument that environmental ethics that moral standing should to be extended to things that traditionally are not thought to have moral standing, would argue that it is morally wrong to use insecticides that are killing local bee
One could look at a bee hive as a single living entity (otherwise known as a Superorganism). They ingest and digest food, regulate water control and achieve locomotion as well as many other things that humans do to stay alive. This is were the similarities stop. Bees are raised for certain jobs that are never changed. Queens lay eggs,Drones mate with queens, and workers well….. They work.
Many people think bees live a vague life compared to humans. However, Albert Einstein once said “If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe then man would only have four years of life left. No more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.” This quote illustrates how bees and humans live a similar life, each having their own set of tasks to accomplish. In the novel The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd uses bees as a metaphor for Lily’s life.
According to the article, “The Role of Bees”, “Since the late 1990s, beekeepers around the world have observed the mysterious and sudden disappearance of bees”. I chose this quote because, it shows that the bee problem has been going around since the 90’s. And it is not a recent thing. According to the article, “The Role of Bees”, “Who would pollinate all the
The unexplained loss and conditions of the bees are very similar to our current day Colony Collapse Disorder, but there is no solid proof to confirm this. In Cache Valley in Utah, 1903, 2,000 colonies of bees were lost to an unknown “disappearing disease” and more recently, in 1995-96, bee keepers in Pennsylvania lost 53% of their bee populations without even knowing the cause (ARS: Honey Bees and Colony Collapse
Timmcdonnell. "Here's why all the bees are dying. "Mother Jones. N.p., n.d. Web.
In the winter they are expecting to lose around 40 to 50 percent of their average beehives. Farmers haven’t necessarily noticed a decline in pollination of crops, because the decrease isn’t as apparent yet, but the Californian almond fields have. The fields usually require around 1.8 million bees to have a successful harvest, but since the incredible amount of bee losses in the last decade or so, farmers have had to export healthy bee colonies nationwide (). If the problem persists farmers of all sorts of plants that need pollination will have to export bees or not even get the amount of bees for a full successful harvest. This problem will get worse and worse overtime, and could eventually kill out those beautiful colored springs that the world is used to.
Hazel Sillver says, “Honey bees are declining in population and may be facing extinction. This is bad not just for the bees, but also for humans, who rely on bees to pollinate many plants and important agricultural crops.” Without bees, crops cannot be pollinated, which stunts growth and can cause the crop to be uneatable or it could be left with very low nutrients. Later, Hazel Sillver states, “The bee is vital…. It pollinates
There are such a large number of fruitful organizations out there. Regardless of whether it is your most loved shoe stores, apparel stores, gems stores and furthermore name mark stores. It 's sheltered to state that we could think of other most loved stores that we cherish. Today, I need to address you about the achievement, esteem and furthermore can 't overlook the difficulties that the Whole Food Market Industry have confronted. I will talk additionally on the potential dangers that could emerge sooner rather than later and routes how to counter that.
This again stops the bees from doing their job of pollinating and stops them from getting the food they need to survive. The community can help bees survive by employing a few tactics. One tactic alone will not cure the bee population degradation but it can help boost the bee population. One local and more personal tactic would be to have a “bee garden” that consists of flowering plants that bees like which include apples, oranges, lemons, limes, cucumbers, carrots, and cantaloupes. Another tactic would be do be more environmentally conscious.
EVIDENCE: 10 THINKING: 7 Picture this, you go into your beautiful house and see no fighting, it's clean, and its normal, must be heaven for you, right? Well that's all because you see everyone looking at a parakeet, and because of that parakeet, it’s heaven. What if you go to pavilions and you are about to leave, but then, your pet parakeet reminds you of something you need to get, won’t that be good, well it is, all because of a pet parakeet. I should have a pet parakeet because it's cheap, it can improve happiness, and they are easy to take care of. One reason I should have a parakeet is because they are cheap.
Bees are major factor in our environment. But recent studies show that we are to blame for the decline in the Bee populations. The main reasons are industrial agriculture (pesticides), mites and climate change. And we should care about them because they provide us with honey and beeswax, and provide a major ecosystem service in the form of pollination. Bees pollinate a lot of crops like apple, citrus, strawberry, blueberry, tomato, melon, oilseed rape, carrot, etc.
A world without bees is a world without life. Bees provide the foundation for the sustenance of human life and other flora and fauna. Bees help provide for a stable economy, environment, and ecosystem. The destruction of the balance that has existed for hundreds of years is leading to major impacts on each of the Earth’s spheres: the hydrosphere, biosphere, lithosphere, and atmosphere. There is still uncertainty about what the true cause of the issue is.
