I totally agreed with you. I too don't think Columbus Day should be a celebration of Columbus victory in discovering America. However, I do think we should keep the holiday and make it a day to grief for the lives lost from Columbus' violence and greed. I don't think Americans repay the Indians enough after putting them through such horror and genocide. Instead, we hurt them even more by naming a Holiday after their murder. In conclusion, I think the meaning of Columbus Day should be switch around and we should not teach the kids an over glorified story of Columbus'
"It will probably rain tomorrow,” Margie said, “but the picnic will not be cancelled since the park has a shelter.”
Scientific research seems very factual and straight-forward. In reality, science deals with uncertainty, something that, when not used in the right way, creates weaknesses. The uncertainty of scientific research allows scientists to explore intellectually as well as creatively, and “venture into the unknown” to create the known. In his account from The Great Influenza, John M. Barry uses formal diction, strategically placed rhetorical questions, and an appeal to logos to characterize scientific research.
The United States of America is a land of freedom, a land of equality, and opportunity. We value independence and should look to exercise this in every form, as a nation. We must stay united and show respect to one another. This means we should not disregard ones ' ethnicity and culture, and use names in which are offensive towards their culture, in order to promote any sort of activity. This is aimed mainly at sports teams that carry racially inappropriate names. Couple teams that carry names that are very offensive to the natives are the Atlanta Braves, Chicago Blackhawks, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Chiefs, and arguably the most popular of them all, the Washington Redskins. These teams carrying such names bring offense to all the native
Have you ever wanted a different lunch besides school lunch? Well I have. The subject I will be discussing is students should have off campus lunch. The issue I chose is relevant because some students contact their parents to bring them lunch from home. The purpose or reason why I chose to discuss this topic is because students want a better lunch than school lunch. I am a credible speaker because of how this issue affects me. This issue affects me because my school has been giving out expired yogurt and milk that can get me sick. Kids should be able to have off campus lunch. Today I will be talking about why kids want better lunch, kids that are tired of the same lunch, and kids who can't drink milk while their eating lunch.
Slide 1: The tradition we chose was Mardi Gras. Slide 2: So What is Mardi Gras? Mardi Gras is a tradition that goes back thousands of years to Ancient Roman Festivals.
Though we shouldn 't forget the main issue, these boys are a menace to the peaceful vibe overall. Yes that may seem harsh to say, but there are ways to celebrated MLK day. Coco Brown, Pug 's mom, described bike riding as a wau to keep the delinquents off streets even if it 's just for a day. Still, dirt bikes and atv 's do not belong on public roads. Especially if there are other civilians driving on the same road . so yeah, I guess allowing these men to hastily swerve between cars apperently is now okay in todays America. Not a care in the world for anyone, in the documentary i hope no one forgot about the teen who got rammed with an ATV. He said he got hit into a tree and got knocked out cold. But that wasn 't all his, colarbone was
Jeremy, Ready I’m going spastic: I really don’t need to drink.. or pot.. I think they calmed me down if anything. I always heard if you type in caps it means you are yelling… I don’t yell much in person because I feel if you want to hear what I have to say listen closely.
Columbus Day Persuasive Essay You look forward to that Monday every October. It’s an extra day to sleep, finish homework or just a day off from work. Thesis: When you think of memorials, what do you think of? Maybe the large Washington monuments, or Mount Rushmore come to mind. Well, lets honestly think about what a monument is. Something built to keep the memory of something, or someone alive. Just as a gravestone does, or a plaque, or a picture of a loved one on social media. So why is it that, these giants of men get memorials so large? I don 't know. So lets just talk about memorials and how I feel about them. Memorializing can be great, or if done the wrong way, horrible.
I am writing on behalf of the 8th Grade Class at Monticello Trails Middle School to persuade you to publish a book for Kansas. Kansas would like a book because 46 out of 50 states do not have a Goodnight Series book and Kansas is one of those 4 states that do not. I believe that Kansas deserves to be included in the Goodnight Series because many people believe that Kansas is a boring state but there are many things that other states do not have that are in Kansas.
Many people don’t get the chance to survive and live to have a horrible death. Many people here in the U.S. don’t think that survival is important in other countries. I believe that in order to have a better world, everyone needs to survive and that means ending world hunger. Do you know when your next meal could be the last? Eight hundred fifteen million people don’t have the food they need because they have no job, natural disaster has struck them or they live in very poor spots of the world.
