EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT It is very hard to analyse the whole organization of Samsung. As mentioned above that Samsung is the biggest business corporation in Korea, with different sectors of brand in different areas of business, such as semiconductors, insurance, real estate and so on. Different businesses come up with different external environments. Therefore, we decide to come up with PESTEL analysis model in which to be used to classified the external environments that influence to the internal industry. Even though, this analysis would not be accurate in to very detail of the company operation, but we PESTEL analysis is useful in terms of keeping firm alert to what is happening in world (Grant, 2013).

Samsung smartphones can be substituted with ordinary mobile phones at any time with no additional costs for customers. Moreover, there is an increasing range of mobile and desktop applications that represent relevant substitute for Samsung’s mobile communications business. Therefore, Samsung have to be careful in deciding on the appropriate marketing strategy. Overall, Samsung adopts the differential pricing in order to attract customers in different social class in the pyramid to wean them away from cheaper substitutes.

Rivalry Among Existing Firms It is very intense. Approaching market saturation for many product categories in consumer electronics industry intensifies the rivalry among existing firms and there is a little differentiation among the range of products offered. Moreover, the great number and diversity of competitors operating in the market fuels the extent of competition in the industry. Indeed, Samsung cannot take its position in the market for granted as all these and other domestic white goods players operate in a market where margins are tight and the competition is intense.
