Being first place in all my races was not enough for me, I strived to improve my time every instant I dove in the pool. To this day, I continue to attend swim team twice a week and swim extra on the weekends to keep in shape. On top of that, I will soon be an L.A. City Lifeguard starting the summer of 2017. Without swimming, I wouldn’t have developed the drive, the motivation, or the perseverance I continue to have
Rafe's thoughts were “Still, Leo had a point. If this mission was going to be worth doing, I needed to do it right” (Pages 112-114, Patterson). Rafe is going to keep his “no-hurt rule” and follow Leo's guidelines and new rules by making sure he doesn't pull a stunt on Zeke and Kenny again and that he doesn't get detention or in trouble with his mother. For instance, he won’t interact with Zeke and Kenny because he nearly got caught and in big trouble with the principal.
Darrow continues with, “if I should succeed, my greatest hope will be that for the countless unfortunates … I have done something to help human understanding, to temper justice with mercy, to overcome hate with love” (68). Darrow gives the insight he is not doing this only to be paid, he is presenting his argument in the hope of keeping future generations from the gallows. Darrow’s candor and finesse makes the judge take him seriously and thoughtfully consider his arguments. Through Darrow’s persona, the audience believes he is doing this out of the goodness of his heart, and if he can see these killers’ worth, they should be able to as
I want to live life like I am dying. I think it is better to take risks and perhaps make some mistakes rather than to remain cautious and risk nothing. First, life would never be boring if I was always taking fun risks. An example of a fun risk I would take would be jumping off a cliff into the lake because I would not know how deep the water is. Second, any stupid risks I take that I think may have been a mistake in the first place would actually benefit me in the long run because I would learn from my mistakes.
" Solomon is a person that is very logical in thinking. An example of Solomon being a logical thinker is stated, "After the fountain, he realized what he had to do. Take away things that make you panic and you won't panic. " This is Solomon being a logical thinker because he would have panic attacks at school when one day was the last day he would try
Negroes are denied housing, turned away from schools, hospitals.” The quote states that laws are meant to be not only for whites , but everyone should be included. Everyone is human and should be treated equally with laws because everyone wants the best for their family which includes going to the best schools and hospitals. In significance everyone should stop with the racism because all life is precious. A law I would disobey if it threatened my family would be a law which required my family to be separated from me because families are meant to be together to protect one another, they can make they can make the best of any situation by sticking together, but most importantly the love between each other is unconditionally.
I like the suggestion to attend FEMA Quake Smart program as this puts into place preparing and planning for disasters. In addition, support and community events holds everyone responsible to discuss ways to prevent any further damage from a natural disaster, if possible. However, I wonder how many people prepare for a natural disaster while it was occurring?
The work changed my view of the world and myself because it is dangerous in the world and I should dream big like Moana. Also the filmmaker was trying to give the idea that a person can conquer anything that society throws at them. In addition, that you should always strive to be different. Some symbols in the movie are Maui’s tattoos, his tattoos represent everything he has did in his life. Another symbol was when Moana’s grandmother died her spirit transformed into a stingray because her grandma always loved stingrays.
It relates to our class because we could not possibly have a class about human sexuality and not discuss one of the biggest issues in our society of sexual beings. I agree wholeheartedly with the message this film is presenting to its viewers. I agree that we should all learn how to listen to victims and help in any way we can. As humans we need to take care of each other to benefit society. This film helps make our society a better place by spreading awareness of the pain rape causes its victims.
Hi Tracie, Banks makes a good point about the human condition and gives an insight to a natural day in people’s life. In the story, I love the idea of losing. The loss is an unavoidable event found in everyday life and a crisis like a bomb explodes in someone’s life because it is not something that tends to cause pleasure when experienced. Throughout the story, the character Chappie experiences the loss of something that is very important to him, which is his parent. This loss triggered a feeling of lack of meaning and purpose in life within him.
To find the hidden treasure to give to Mike and Brand’s parents in order to avoid foreclose on their house. They all seem to be devoted friends to each other and don’t want to see their friends leave. As it is clearly written in our textbook, a “goal is not enough” (Communicating in Small Groups, 2015) it should be essential, excite the members of the team and make them want to make important contributions. In the Goonies, we precisely see this demonstration throughout the film. This is evident when the team had a chance to be rescued from the well and miss their goal but decided to continue on the
Seabear Security has chosen a project that truly helps the working person with their busy lives. The way we helped society with their problems in security is that we have made a new idea that erases the ink off of paper. The purpose is to prevent dumpster diving for personal files that shouldn’t be exposed to the whole world. Security is the most important thing to have when having confidential files on hand.
I want to participate in efforts to end the days people refuse to seek care in fear of taking loans or ruining their credit score because they have to declare bankruptcy. Health is a basic human right and Americans shouldn’t have to decide between seeking medical help or supporting themselves. In order to make effective contribution to improving healthcare, I will need to learn as much as I can from my colleagues, professors, patients, and school administration. The school dean, Larry Kaiser, has been instrumental in the financial transformation of Temple University Hospital, turning a fiscal deficit into surplus. Dr. Kaiser has a heart to advocate for those who may not have the resources or time, and I want to practice that philosophy.
As I stated earlier “You Shall Not Steal” (Exodus 20:15) it is in the bible as one of the Ten Commandments, by stealing you are shortening your days. So yes stealing is against my religious beliefs but I can 't sit and watch my baby get sicker and starve every day. The health of my baby is far more important to me, I believe that the Lord would understand that I am helping an innocent child. I would sacrifice everything just to make sure my baby is in great health.
