surgery with a specialist in Vail. Apparently, the night before the operation, he had invited a nineteen-year-old woman to his hotel room in nearby Edwards for what he termed ‘consensual’ sex. The following day the woman went to the police claiming that she’d been forcibly raped (Jackson 567). For Jackson, this was a lot more then just Kobe being charged with a life-changing crime, but rather brought Jackson back to a dark place in his life that he will never forget. He explains, “Several years earlier, when my daughter Brooke was in college, she had been the victim of an assault while on a date with a campus athlete.” (Jackson 567). Kobe’s incident hit home with something that Jackson had to personally go through with his family; something he was hoping to put behind him. Even though Jackson was …show more content…

Leadership is a complex concept and there are different ways of being a successful leader. Phil Jackson has had a substantial amount of leadership strategies throughout his career being a basketball coach. One of Jackson’s most effective strategies that helped win his eleven NBA titles was his coaching style. He never believed in forcing his will on his players or thinking for his players. “I’ve always been interested in getting players to think for themselves so that they can make difficult decisions in the heat of battle.” (Jackson 37) Throughout the book Jackson emphasizes, “Selflessness was the holy grail of basketball.” (Jackson 74) He further explained that the best offensive strategy was to keep the ball moving among five players to create shooting opportunities and make it hard for the other team to focus on one or two shooters. Even though they had some of the best shot creators in the game, Frazier and Earl “the pearl” Monroe insisted that everybody work together in unity to get the ball to the player with the best shot. If decided to work

This is a passage about one of the first basketball players to ever set foot on a basketball court. He was a great hero during the Civil Rights Movement. His name was a great inspiration to African Americans all over the U.S. during the movement. He was born on March 31, 1923 in a town that most of you are probably familiar with, Oakland, California.
As soon as Jackson started earning money, he supported his mother. Years later being drafted to the NBA, he was hesitant for the reason of his mother 's well being. Nonetheless, he joined the League thanks to his mother 's encouragement. Coach Anderson made sure Jackson got his regular practice. As time flew by,Jackson was winning games, but at the same time, his mother’s time also flew by.
Instead, Jackson shows the leadership that made him a remarkable coach that was innovative in the game, and in his managerial skills. What stands out most about the book, isn’t Jacksons success, but rather how he achieved his success. The unique leadership styles that Jackson used shows that he wasn’t simply a coach that got lucky and had superstar players. What separates Jackson from experienced coaches or other former players that take a position as a coach is that there is no one more qualified to create a basketball team that plays together as a
Man Taken By Shark Yesterday in the early morning at around 4am a young pearl diver at the age of 30, was attacked by a Tiger shark. He was out in Roebuck Bay on the coast of Kimberly when this incident happened. The pearling crew confirmed that the victim of the attack was Samuel Jackson, and that they had been unaware of his attack when it happened because he was so far away. The crew of the lugger pulled in his air hose to find no one at the end.
Imagine being out to dinner with the love of your life and your beautiful, smiling, 3-year-old child. It's a double celebration: your birthday and the end of your young boy's difficult recovery from surgery for a heart defect. As you cross the street afterward, holding hands and swinging the little one up in the air, you think, "This is what it's about." You know it's one of the best days of your life. For Michael Morton, that day was August 12, 1986.
“On a night when thousands of Paris residents and tourists were reveling and fans were enjoying a soccer match between France and world champion Germany, horror struck in an unprecedented manner. Terrorists -- some with AK-47s, some reportedly with bombs strapped to them – attacked sites throughout the French capitol and at the stadium where the soccer match was underway” (CNN). In a world of constant fighting and terror everyone is in need of leaders that remind them of goodness. Jimmie Lee Jackson, John Lewis, and Barbara Jordan are leaders who fight for good through their determination for equality, beliefs in peace, and passion for justice. Jimmie Lee Jackson was a good leader because he was determined for equality.

Whether it was through basketball or his own brand, Jordan was making everyone want “to be like Mike”.
Kobe was always referred to as “Joe Bryant’s kid” all throughout middle school. No one knew Kobe for Kobe, only as his father’s shadow. Kobe made the varsity team his freshman year. Many people said he had some skill. They all said he had handles and he could shoot.
Another factor of what inspired him was his willingness to become the greatest which encouraged him to do better each time. "That 's how I would think everyone would go into it. You want to be the man, you know, not the best of the moment, but the best who ever set foot on a basketball court," said Kobe Bryant (Biography Today 54). Kobe brought out the best in people and he wanted to have a positive effect to the people around him and supported him in his life. His goal was to be one of the greatest, but he also wanted to influence people.
