INTRODUCTION
Science Education
In this technological age, science subdues and even drives societies with its ideas and products and it is very likely that the impact of science and technology on people’s lives will persist to exist and increase in the coming years. Through science, the way people think shifts to a more critical approach. Frequently, science has been recognized to be of great significance because of its connection to technology, which, in a government perspective, is a priority area for economic development (Elkington, 2015). This is possibly the reason why many countries have embedded the very sense of science in their respective educational system so as to let all citizens be enabled of active participation in modern societies.

The additional two years for the senior high school as part of the implementation of K to 12 curriculum is another challenge that the Philippine Educational System has to endure since the requirement for more classrooms and instructional materials will have to be addressed right away. The ultimate goal of teaching is to provide appropriate and effective instruction to students and, in turn, promoting effective learning. It is henceforth expected that a Science teacher to devise and provide the essential materials to execute scientific concepts in classes, thus easing the abovementioned problems on scarce funds for science instruction. Inadequacy of instructional materials have been particularly raised by Ogbu (2015) as the main factor affecting the teaching and learning …show more content…
As stipulated in the DepEd Order No. 39, s. 2012, interventions have to be made in order to address learning gaps. The use of Strategic Intervention Material, or SIM as it is commonly called, is identified as one of the suggested various intervention form that can bridge learning gaps. SIM is a remediation aid for the students at the level of their understanding and thereby increasing their academic achievement.
SIM was defined by Bunagan, (2012) as meant to re-teach the concepts and least mastered skills, and in this study the science concepts and skills. It is a material given to students to aid in the mastery of competency-based skills which they were not able to develop in regular classroom instructions. SIM is a multifaceted approach to aid the students, especially those who are non-performing to become independent and successful
When I attended Palmetto Boys State in June of 2017, there was one thing that I was told repeatedly since the first day: “You get out what you put in.” Before I attended, I roughly knew that Boys State was a government simulation program, and I was interested yet still unsure about the program. While it is a government simulation program, Boys State at its core teaches more than government and law. When I decided to follow the advice I was given and put in as much as I could, the week turned out to be one of the most transformative experiences of my life. Santee City, the city I had been placed in, did not have a great start to the week.
As we can see in our studies, the role of technology and sources has changed tremendously over time and the development of society has changed as well due to the resources now available. As we take a look at all these documents we can see how each one has affected each other to help grow a society As we take a look at documents 1 and 3 we can see that education and using resources was very important because it led to the teaching of many important studies helping to develop boys many different teachings to survive and help make a living. One of the many important things in document 3, is all of the different crafts being taught to these young boys that could relate to document 1 where they are able to use the special maguey plant and their
Science and technology can be perceived as redirecting the society in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. Mark Twain as we know is a considerably enjoyable writer and in this book he wants the readers to see that science and technology can be a savior to mankind. Science and technology as we know has given us so many more opportunity for development in our societies. In A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, Hank Morgan uses his knowledge to his advantage in the society he was whisked back to, by setting himself free before being executed fooling the king and Merlin, by saying on (pg.36) “The ECLIPSEIn the stillness and the darkness, realization soon began to supplement knowledge”, and fooling a poor man named Clarence by explaining that he was some sort of “magician” himself.
He argued that science is essential to our understanding of the world and plays a crucial role in shaping our society. He stressed that science should be a public trust and that it is the responsibility of scientists to use their knowledge for the benefit of humanity. He supported his argument with a variety of examples, including the role of science in creating new technologies and in solving important social problems. He also spoke about the importance of international cooperation and the role of scientists in working together to create a better
It is a good idea to discuss with the teacher about the learning outcomes, and the ways to carry out an activity beforehand. The support practitioners can make notes and observations during the activity and then provide feedback
Figure 1 is a summary of the students’ learning throughout the learning segment. I administrated this test as a pre-assessment prior to the lesson one and administered it again after the completion of lesson 3. This test is a compilation of students’ learning and it demonstration how they met the standards and objectives that were set out for them to achieve. The evaluation criteria in which this assessment and all other assessment in the individual lessons did was not altered. Even though the students have different learning needs, the assessment met all of the needs for all learners.
How exciting would the world be if everyone was either a scientist or mathematician? What would the world be like? Of course there will be a bountiful supply of scientific breakthroughs thank we can bank on, but what how will all of the other aspects of the world fare? As of currently, all across the country there has been a jolt of urgency for the incorporation of a more STEM based education in schools. A more “STEM” based education like the type described in We Can’t All Be Math Nerds and Science Geeks by Fareed Zakaria narrows student’s once broad-based learning foundation and directs it into a more specific line of learning, which is the reasoning behind Zakaria’s disapproval of the movement.
Science and technology have had a major impact on society. It has changed the way we interact, transport, and can even change the length and quality of life itself. Science has changed our learning abilities too, we now have ipads at our elementary school and it helps students
Rationale From observation majority of the students are faced with social, personal and academic challenges. They are at the stage Identity
It is a viable tool for addressing the maximum participation of the child and can be a catalyst to ensure effective learning. Effective teachers use an array of teaching strategies because there is no single, universal approach that suits all situations. Different strategies used in different combinations with different groupings of students will improve learning outcomes. Some strategies are better suited to teaching skills and fields of knowledge than others. Some strategies are better suited to certain student backgrounds, learning styles and
The achievement gap is reflected on each STARR tested area. Targeting the distance from the goal to gap of student groups that have had achievement gaps would be a planning process which would include the use of performance data. Tutorials are an essential form of ensuring that students have the chance to rebuild their foundation of learning the content. The primary focus would be on one student with a mentor to challenge and inspire students to connect with success.
In this assignment, I will be writing on how to apply the principles of pedagogy in my area of specialism. Effective teacher uses diverse teaching strategies and universal approaches that suit situations, different strategies in different grouping of learners to improve learning outcomes, There are different teaching styles that suit different learners backgrounds and ability. Teachers are ldentified in their profession as ‘learning specialist’ , and there are five principles of good pedagogy which are Motivation, Exposition, Direction of activity and Inviting imitation. Andragogy is the best approach for effective delivery and pedagogy, both approaches must be used to ensure effective delivery. The principle is the idea of the curriculum and requirement of my subject area, I adopted pedagogy and andragogy that learners will understand The word motivation preceeds teaching at all times the teacher is preparing for delivery of effective and engaging instructional process.
Evolving methodologies for curriculum and instruction are essential to improving how we educate. McMillian positions that essential to this is understanding the value of scientific inquiry. He explains, “the principles of scientific inquiry provide the foundation for conducting studies…analyzing educational problems, making decisions, and designing, conducting, reporting, and evaluating” (McMillian, 2016, p. 7) to provide significant benefits for engaging students and affecting achievement. Among the changing methodologies is the consensus that the use of STEM-education concepts are necessary to prepare students for 21st century skill-building. Subsequently, this has led to an instructional methodology that highlights math-centered curriculum, and the instruction of science and technology as independent of core content.
Through this activity, the teachers assure that the learners are able to participate fully in the curriculum. As the supports given by the teacher the learners allow them to transfer their skills and knowledge to
Although the lesson plan’s primary objective is to improve the overall quality of teaching to benefit students, this also improves teacher motivation and development. This is achieved through using the lesson plan as a permanent record of lessons taught. In the case where the lesson has been
