Philosophy in Education
1.0 Introduction
The goal of making Malaysia a developed nation by the year 2020 can be implemented through the full development of human resources. The process of developing human resources must also be total or comprehensive. In other words, we must ensure that there is no any group in our country that drops out or ignores in the process.
The Malaysian school system aspires to halve the socio-economic, urban-rural and gender achievement gaps in student outcomes by 2020. The reduction of the socio-economic and urban-rural gaps are expected to also impact the achievement gaps between states and school types. Achieving this reduction would make Malaysia one of the more equitable systems in the world. Therefore, Malaysia has introduced democratization in education which emphasizes equality for all students in the country.

1.1 Definition
Equality means the state of being equal, especially in status, right, or opportunities. (Oxford Online Dictionary).
Education means the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university. (Oxford Online Dictionary).
In the context of education in Malaysia, equality in education refers to the equality of access in education and equality of output in education. All students regardless of background have the right to receive a quality education that can improve their potential as high as possible.

The purpose of this essay is to acknowledge the conditions that impact upon Indigenous students’ education. This will be reached through analysis of the concepts of race, racism and whiteness in Australia. These key understandings of Indigenous students’ will be incorporated into my own critical pedagogy in order to demonstrate how I would teach for reconciliation in my classroom. This is needed in a class to ensure an equal opportunity to succeed is possible for every student.
Ethics according to my understanding is that division of philosophy which concerns with the moral principles that guide us in terms of our behaviour and way of doing things. Ethics simply helps a person in distinguishing between the right and wrong, good and bad, just and unjust, acceptable and unacceptable. It incorporates the ethical standards or the code of ethics guiding a person into the right path by instilling discipline and other virtues in our life’s daily activities. As professional teachers we endowed with dignity and reputation with high code of conduct while practicing the noble teaching profession which also requires us to follow set of ethical and moral principles, standards and values. Ethics in education concerns with the study of ethical standards or basic principles related rooted in the education system.
According to Google dictionary, education means an enlightening experience. Education is a vital and necessary key to life in order to grow and understand. As said by Adrienne Rich, education must not be handed to someone, but it must be claimed. Claiming an education is a skill that takes motivation and interest, it is a skill that I have claimed in certain areas of education as well as a skill that I continue searching for new techniques that can help me claim my education.
Reda (2015) states “If we want to see the world as a just and fair place where everyone is given equal opportunities, education is what we require. Education is a must if we want to do away with the existing differences between different social classes and genders. It opens a whole world of opportunities for the poor so that they may have an equal shot at well-paying jobs.” Creating education in a democratic state has been aimed by many states, theorists, philosophers and so on. Countries in this era have succeeded is aiming for a democratic education, some are getting there and other countries fail in creating a democratic education.
Education is a huge issue that not only affects kids and their parents, but their community as well. Schools teach young kids to become the next generation of engineers, technicians, and political leaders, working towards creating a better future for their country and their community. Teachers have the unique job of creating the future leaders of the world, and preparing them for both college and life beyond, by putting a special push towards math and science, the so-called “foundation” of our society. The hard truth is, no one can be anything they want to be. Some people are simply not cut out to be engineers, doctors, or psychologists.
The sociology of education is the study of how public institutions and individual experiences affect education and its outcomes. It is most concerned with the public schooling systems of modern industrial societies which including the expansion of higher, further, adult, and continuing education. Education has often been seen as a fundamentally optimistic human endeavour characterised by aspirations for progress and betterment. It is understood by many to be a means of overcoming handicaps, achieving greater equality and acquiring wealth and social status. In Malaysia context, Malaysian education system revolves around the National Education Philosophy where it aims to produce a loyal and united Malaysian nation, produce faithful, well-mannered, knowledgeable, competent and prosperous individuals, produces the nation’s human resource for development needs and to provide educational opportunities for all Malaysians.
Education is necessary for all students. It is a tool which can be used to enhance one's learning and to provide students with experiences inside the classroom to prepare them for later in their life. Teachers are an indispensable figure in the classroom and are called as leaders of the next generation. Everything done in the classroom helps develop children into the citizens they will become. It is essential to understand that students have difference in need, ability, and success rate, but they are all special in their own way.
