Before the time of modern technology and modern sciences, people had less to fears, for example they did not have advanced technology, and media, their life was much simpler than what it is now. With the development of modern society, there comes the birth of new and fears and phobias. The causes of these phobias can include childhood traumas, stress, genetics, physical difficulties, anxiety, and neurological issues. It is thought to be that the more you believe in a fear, the more likely the phobia will grow, for example, children believe in Santa Clause because their parents told them so, and they trust their parents, just as a phobia patient trusts their doctor. Which is why people are unaware when a doctor makes a mistake. In Modern society there has been an increase in horror movies, and media, which has contributed to the enlargement of people with phobias. With more access to fictional horror scenarios, people have more to fear, which can lead to everyday life problems. This is going to be proven by conducting interviews and by comparing and contrasting popular phobias in order to see their relationships.

In modern developed societies (2003-2013), there has been an increase in people’s phobias. This may be due to an upsurge in misdiagnosis, the omnipresent media, existential doubt, and the secular influence of technology.
