Part of his success was attributed to the fact that he was “interested in art more as a means of living a life, not as a means of making a living”. For example, print. Print design is book covers, magazines, annual reports, and yearbooks. It is basically something tangible you hold in your hands. There’s also different categories of graphic design like, app design and website design. In all of these photography, is very important. Photography in graphic design is fairly new, but it is being called photo illustration. It is called photo illustration because you are illustrating something through the use of photography (Stofsick). You also need to know the basic skills of listening to others, not interrupting, asking good questions, and talking to others. You need to be able to know how to notice a problem and figure out the best way to solve it. Robert Henri was also correct when saying: “ The better or more personal you are the less likely they are of acceptance; you are painting for yourself, not for the jury.”. Typically their day includes hours of shooting, editing, marketing, advertising, and more. However, a day looks different depending on whether you are a graphic designer or a photographer. If you are a photographer then your day would consist of hours of photo shoots. The photo shoots will vary in length and complexity depending on what you are photographing. You will also need to meet with clients, order supplies, and order and deliver prints. If you a graphic designer then your day would consist of photographing products, meeting with clients and art directors, and hours of editing. A graphic designer and photographer usually work full time, but this may vary depending on their workload and deadlines. “In 2012 about 24% of graphic designers were self-employed.” Being self-employed can be great, however there are a few cons to it as well. If you choose to be a self-employed graphic designer and photographer, you may need to change your workday to meet clients in the evenings or on the weekends which can be challenging.
