My career goal would to become a physician assistant. I’ve had always been interested in something in the medical field and I decided the best option for me would be this job. I’ve considered many options, such as a RN, or maybe something along those lines. I find this job extremely interesting and I've always wanted to help people either through law enforcement of in the medical field trying to figure out what's wrong with my patient. Furthermore, while I’m in high school as a junior I plan on working extremely hard on school work trying to get the best grades I possibly can. During this period of time the best options I can do are take classes relating to anything with the study of the human body. Right now I am taking a human biology class learning all about the human body. I plan on also getting high score on …show more content…
I will also during this time maintain good grades and try and position myself with people that are doing something in the medical field like doing a ride along in the ambulance. I’ve always wanted to be apart from that so I can experience stuff in the medical field firsthand so when I get my job I'm not blinded by not knowing what to expect. This experience will give me hands on training and help me know what I should prepare myself with when it comes to patients. While in college I plan to study as much as I possibly can. The medical field is extremely competitive. Also, I think it would be best if I associate and surround myself with people already in the field I would like to be in. I will do this by volunteering at hospitals and clinics. In addition to doing this I will build relationships with many different people that may help my by writing letters of recommendation for a job I will find in the future. While volunteering I plan to show I am a compassionate and kind person, that I really care about the people I work with. To
High school and the courses you choose are simply the beginning of your continuing education to becoming a physician 's
Thank you for taking the time to review my personal statement on why I have chosen to embark on the journey to become a Physician Assistant. My story started several years ago, more than I care to count, when I stumbled into the health care world as a paramedic in rural Pennsylvanian. While in high school, I became friends with several other students who were actively volunteering with a local fire department. After hearing their stories about the things they were learning and doing I also joined a volunteer fire department, mostly out of curiosity. Over the course of a couple of years I discovered that the challenges that I encountered during training and responding to emergencies had unlocked some unrealized, more like unknown, drive inside
In third grade, I was assigned to create a project illustrating what I wanted to be when I grew up. At this time, due to my positive experiences with doctors and my desire to help others, especially children, I decided to describe the role of a pediatrician as my future career. Throughout my childhood, whenever asked about my future aspirations, I confidently declared that I would attend medical school and become a pediatrician. However, as I developed, the answer to this question slowly began to evolve as I gained a deeper understanding of my values and the people I desired to serve through medicine.
As I volunteered at medical centers and learned about the professions of doctors, I will continue to pursue these interests by partaking in clubs such as the American Medical Student Association to learn more about the medical field as a career and the BioMedical Science Club to understand more about biological sciences and medicine. Furthermore, as I am currently taking a class on biomedical ethics, I desire to participate in the Bioethics Forum to discuss ethical issues facing in the medical world. Additionally, As I have partaken in Red Cross in which has allowed me to bring awareness to different diseases, I will be able to continue this activity in Heart to Heart to raise alertness to the risks of high blood pressure and Emergency Health Education to instruct emergency procedures regarding to health since I am First Aid, CPR, and AED certified. In the Tandon School of Engineering, I will major in the Science and Technology Studies program and understand more about the relations between science and
Why did you decide to become a physician and how do you plan to use your time as an undergraduate student to reach your goal? *
The profession I have chosen to pursue is that of a Physician Assistant. My reason for this selection is because it gives you the independency of a Physician while having somewhat less responsibilities. A Physician Assistant provides healthcare services typically performed by a physician, under the supervision of a physician. Some of these services include but are not limited to examining and treating patients, diagnosing illnesses and counseling patients. In some case physician assistants are also tasked to prescribe medicine to patients.
From there, I will then obtain my Master’s and then pursuing a M.D./Ph. D dual degree program at a world-renowned medical school. My long term goal is to become an orthopedics’ physician while conducting research on common bone diseases in third world countries. My desire to perform medical public service developed from concern and sympathy for people in need of medical care, most specifically those with the least access. Participating in this program will give me the experience and edge I need to become one step closer to my research goals.
This career will allow me to work fervently every day to create advancements that will revolutionize the way medicine interacts with individual patients. The knowledge that I will gain during my time at university will be priceless as I work
