Political power; something that every ruler works toward having during their reign. There is a fine line of being feared and being respected. Both things that a leader has to have from those that he was ruling over. A person in political power has to accept that he will not always be loved or even liked. He has to put his position as a leader before anything else. Machiavelli recommends that the character and behavior for a leader goes against everything that most of us strive to be. Examples; that it is better to be stingy then generous. It is better to be cruel than merciful. These will make a leader a strong and efficient leader. Seems like an extreme amount of time but you have to take in account that all information that was shared had to be done through great amount of distances with the only modes of transpiration being walking, wagon or sailing. Each country having their own thoughts, their own religions and their own ideas all of this they were bringing into this new world. However, they all had one thing in common; they wanted to expand and be successful, personally and financially. This was a time of learning a time of acceptance. Finding out that there were more people and countries that were out there, more then what was believed. Now each person had the opportunity to open and expand their mind and learn about the places and people that lived beyond their boarders. The Renaissance era definitely was a time of rebirth for all countries. The changes that took place then set the stage for the type of world that we live in today.
