Pipeline Persuasive Speech
Kimberly,
One year ago today the North Dakota State Troopers, Morton County Sheriff's Department, and National Guard suited up in riot gear and cleared thousands of water protectors from the Oceti Sakowin camp at Standing Rock.
Sovereign native nations have been under attack since before the United States' founding. It is long past the time where we need to recognize these attacks and stand united in helping those who have been hurt so much across the course of history. The Dakota Access Pipeline protests gave me hope that more of us are willing to fight back than ever before.
We need you in this fight too. Make a $5 contribution to boost our efforts to keep fossil fuels in the ground and uphold the treaty rights of our Indigenous sisters and brothers.

Just last week, a pipeline burst off the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and spilled over 672,000 gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands have been without power for weeks after their antiquated fossil fuel infrastructure was destroyed by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. All the while, the Trump administration cuts back on environmental protections and destroys the EPA from within.

Continuing on our current path condemns us to a future of more extreme weather, disease, famine, forced migration, and armed conflict.
