Throughout African American history , the police force has been accountable for numerous detrimental deaths in the African American community due to racial discrimination. In 1960s, African American protesters were targeted by the police force because of the their desire to be be deemed as equal. Likewise, in today’s society African Americans are still experiencing active racial discrimination and injustices from the police force. African Americans have expressed their level of frustration with the inhumane actions of the police force. Police brutality of African American protesters has been rebirthed into 21st century by ongoing racial injustices through Henry Louis Gates Jr. and victims of the detrimental equality marches , evidence is presented.
According to the article, “Why Police Kill Black Males”, Gilbert and Rashan state, “The criminalization of black males has a long history in the USA, which has resulted in an increase in policing behaviors by legal authorities” (Gilbert and Rashan). They also assert that black males in America have been stereotyped as violent criminals, felons, drug dealers and sexual predators (Gilbert and Rashan). Even more striking is the claim by Matthew Hughley in his article which appeared in Critical Sociology, that the criminal justice system has evolved the ideology that blacks have an inherent predisposition to commit crime (Hughey 857). Sadly, black males are perceived as threats even when they are unarmed. Hughey supports this assertion when he states, “Black Americans who are fatally shot by police are, in fact, less likely to be posing an imminent lethal threat to the officers at the moment they are killed than white Americans fatally shot by police” (Hughey 859).
You cannot fight violence by encouraging more violence, it is impossible. Moreover, the documentary shows how United States has always been a racist and xenophobic society. Most murders carried out in United States have been linked to black people, and US press has taken charge of making public and spreading the news about black people who terrorize the city (again the media imposing fear) and most of the time is the other way around, where white people are the real danger to
Canada is often referred as one of the lowest crime rated countries in the world and it’s also considered one of the safest countries in the world, but there are crimes that often happens but they are not reported one of those crimes is sexual harassment and assault. Case law in Canada pertaining to sexual assault and harassment are not capable to act as a punishment since these laws often favoured the perpetrator because most of the victims are ashamed to speak out therefore these acts continue to be pervasive in Canada. The Ontario human rights code states that everyone has the rights to be free from sexual discrimination based on sex which includes sexual assault/harassment. However, history has shown that people have overlooked it. One of the most
On television, magazines, internet, and wherever social media are found, the African-American community is targeted. Black on black crime has decreased because of the white law enforcements on innocent black citizens has increased, causing a racial war and blacks reuniting together forming a black lives matter movement, turning the dream into a nightmare. Because of the majority of people who makes of the nations’ population, the white race is in favor compared to other race in the United States of America, neither which meaning the society will find a way not find fault nor resisting punishing the (white) criminal regardless of the hades crime they have committed. In this century, the black race has developed negative opinions against one another. Apparently, being a certain shade of brown determines expectation everywhere.
How long will we continue to reject the fact that it is racism that fuels police brutality in the United States? Racism has been a topic of in the media each day in the country. Police brutality is happening everywhere and has become more commonplace with the increase of racist police officers who are a part of a corrupt system that targets the African-American male population. Police are not killing blacks because the crimes they commit are threatening, but because of the color of their skin and the way they look. Whites are rarely killed because they appear to be innocent to the police.
Especially African Americans, but in our recent history we have up all race crimes. I think this is due to the things our political leaders are saying. Many of them are trying to help, but they also say some racist things that ignite race wars. (Fighting for freedom) Many of our mass shootings in that occurs because of police shootings are because of race. There is wrong on both sides, but a majority of the time is black on white shooting, whether is the cop killing the citizen or the citizen killing the cop.
This is what started the Blue Lives Matter movement, a movement for police officers to be protected. Due to a spike in police deaths the government imposed harsher laws against assaulting, harming, or killing a police officers. The BLM community is concerned because they feel like they are taking a step backwards in the relationships between the community and its people with the local police officers. Lots of people are saying that the movement is unjust because they believe that “All Lives Matter,” but the movement is just simply pointing out that African Americans are being wrongfully targeted and killed. The movement is trying to prove that all of our lives should be equal not one life is better than the
The Plague of the United States era, society is insistently assured by police and their apologist, is not the extensive abuse and other frequent misconduct by law enforcements officers, but the expanding “disrespect for authority” that is being encouraged by “liberals” and those more extensive individuals called “libertarians” The widespread media coverage of police brutality has become too common within our societies everyday life, thus causing destruction of the communities trust. Savage treatment is continually afflicted among African Americans as a replacement form of punishment. A substantial number of casualties of police brutality are African Americans, for instance during August 9th within a house of Brooklyn, an African American
For example, if one person in the government of a democratic country is corrupt, they won’t be able to do much as they are only one in thousands of civil servants. Even the Prime Minister, our highest governmental position, can’t control all of Canada by himself. But in autocratic countries, if this corrupted person is the
