On 06/14/2017 around 1750 hours, I, Officer Burkes, responded to a report of a suspicious person knocking on a door at 1504 Homestead Blvd. The caller stated that a white male was bleeding all over her door and asking her to call 911. When I arrived on scene, I noticed a white male, later identified as Alex Schesny, sitting between the screen door and steele door. I asked Alex to get up and walk out to the back of my patrol car. Once on the back of my car, I retrieved my gloves out of the front seat.

In 2005, Carl Bryan was stopped in Coronado, California for a seat belt violation. Bryan had already been stopped that same morning on a speeding charge, at this point he was upset with himself. Because of this, he was hitting the steering wheel and yelling expletives at himself. He complied with the officer, when he requested to turn the radio down and pull to the curb. Every Resident Advisor (RA) answers the on-call phone with a bit of apprehension, but when the caller tells you that they are concerned that their friend may hurt herself physically, all your nerves stand on edge. It was this experience and others like it that reaffirmed my decision to pursue a career in the Healthcare field with a specific interest in mental health. As a member of law enforcement, my interaction with correction is closer than most people. However, it is not as familiar as correctional officer since I work in the traffic division. My closest contact with someone who was in correction facility is my mechanic. I have known him for 2 years through an introduction from a close friend. I first met him in the parking lot of his apartment complex where he works on car.
My passion for helping and supporting those whose economic and financial standings have hindered their growth in our society, has driven me towards social work. I feel I have exhausted every possible avenue in my current degree field. Pursuing a master’s in Social Work, will give me the diversity that I need, while aiding me in bringing my dreams of working more in depth with clients, by helping assist them with their individual needs and issues to reality. The Social work field also offers versatility which allows me to work in many dimensions, such as clinical, case management, and many other composites which enables me to help every population. I want to join the staff team for a few reasons. The first reason being that I would like to contribute to the community somehow by assisting others. I have never volunteered to become a staff member whatsoever, so I would like to be in a staff position also for experience. I started feeling more into the community each time I went onto this server, and I've always wanted to become a staff member. I feel that this server is very unique compared to other regular servers.
