Political Communication In Malaysia

1.0 ABSTRACT

This is a tem paper regarding the Malaysia politician that I have choose who is the best politician and most successful politician during his career. This paper will also discussed about how they build up his image and career using the four main concepts discussed by Brian McNair, in his book Introduction to Political Communications for enhancing their credibility in the political career nowadays. The information obtained in completing this term paper is based on the available journals and books.

2.0 INTRODUCTION

These objectives can affect the politician political career whether it is good or otherwise. There are four main concepts that been discussed by Brian McNair in his book that can be implementing by these politicians to succeed in the political career

This young Malaysian politician, Khairy Jamaluddin is well known for his credibility in fulfilling his responsibilities towards the society and as well as the country. He portrays this entire fours concept successfully which has bring him to where he is now. Those four concepts are Media Management, Image Management, Internal Management and Information Management.

Media Management

Khairy Jamaluddin has established a very good relationship with the media. The media portrays his image as a good politician among the public. According to the Brian McNair (2011), the term media management does not, in this context, refer to those engaged in the professional work of managing media organizations, but to the wide variety of practices whereby political actor may seek to control, manipulate or influence media organization in ways which correspond to their political

In 2007, Khairy Jamaluddin accepted the challenge by debating with the Parti Pakatan Rakyat (PKR) representatives, Rafizi Ramli regarding the PTPTN and higher education issues. Not to mention that Khairy Jamaluddin is a very good debater and where in the footage of the debate, he was able manipulate whatever Rafizi’s point on the educational matters using nothing but facts and strengthen the government views. Khairy shows his confident way of voicing out his opinion in representing Barisan Nasional.

Khairy Jamaluddin has also contributed a lot in drawing the strategy in strengthen the positon and support for the people, which he stated in his speech entitled “Preparing for Tomorrow” at the UMNO General Assembly for the Youth Wing 2013. At the assembly, he takes the chance of congratulating to those politicians who had won positions at the central, divisional, and branch level.

Khairy also suggested that the ministry should consider more to give the young generation opportunities to be the election candidates. He is aware of the current situation as from his study, the other political parties such as PAS, DAP and PKR appeared to be more prepared to push young candidates forward.
