IDEOLOGY
WHAT IS IDEOLOGY?
A set of ideas on which the collective ideals of a community, culture or political system is based is called ideology. It shows the collective consciousness of people from different phases of history.
The word ideology was coined by Count Antoine Destutt de Tracy, a French materialist in the late eighteenth century, to define a "science of ideas."
Today the term ideology is used in a much broader sense. In a pejorative sense, it means a set of ideas used as a political tool to achieve hidden goals and interests by distorting social, political realities.

Accordingly, the idea of human rights developed in conjunction with the progressive movement. These “human rights” developed from Theodore Roosevelt as he worked against trusts in order to end special interests and preserve the peoples’ interest (Kesler). Consequently, one might ask, what preserves the peoples’ interest, and what is the difference between natural and human rights? According to the Oxford Dictionary, ideology is a word that roots in late 18th century France, and defined as “A system of ideas and ideals, especially one which forms the basis of economic or political theory and policy.” (Angus, Pearsall, and Hanks, 869) This means that ideology is structures of ideas that are specifically foundation for different political and economic theories; for example, socialism and environmentalism are ideologies. Disregard the fact that the word ideology was rooted from 18th century there were still political theories and policies before late 18th century. One of the political ideas that modern day people consider as ideology is Absolutism from 1589 to 1725.

In any war, a key aspect that helps a certain side to win is if the majority of the people support what they are fighting for. One way that that support can be influenced is through propaganda. Propaganda is a common form of war-time media, and will encourage people to see things a certain way, and even change people’s views. The Civil War was no different to any other war, in that it had a fair amount of propaganda in both the Union and the Confederacy. There were many different types of propaganda used in the Civil War as well, and they all had major effects on the Civil War.
Equality in America America and its people have worked hard to create a home in which everyone is treated, and feels equal. We’ve fought wars, held protests, and lost many lives in situations where we were fighting for fair treatment. After all of these sacrifices, it's safe to say that Americans have the right to love, and cherish the equality that their home presents them with, but to an extent. Equality in society, government, and basic human interactions should always be kept, and held with great importance. However, we also need to keep in mind that we are not the same people.
It can be hard to find your political view. Sometimes it takes time and research on political issues in our country and around the world. There are two popular political views; conservative and liberal. The definition for a conservative; is holding to traditional attitudes and values and cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion. Liberal definition is; open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values.
In American society, there is an ongoing list of political ideologies. These political ideologies range anywhere from the commitment to traditional values (conservatism), to the freedom and openness to change (liberalism). Whether it is authoritarian conservative, anarchism, socialism, progressivism, pluralism, toleration, etc., everyone is entitled to their own views. After doing research on several ideologies, I found myself closely associated with liberalism.
