Human beings are constantly intruding on the privacy of others for the benefit of themselves. This need can stem from many sources, the common ones being are, their love of drama, the constant urge to analyze, or commitment to solve the puzzle at hand. This unnecessary infringement on the lives of others can detriment one’s self along with those who are either their close acquaintances or those they are intruding. In the play “Hamlet”, the young, introspective, prince of Denmark, Hamlet seeks revenge for the murder of his father, King Hamlet. Through Hamlet’s journey to find justice, his inquired madness and indecision dwindle the other characters along with himself. Polonius has an effect on many characters throughout this play and is often found invading the privacy of the other characters. Similarly to Polonius in “Hamlet”, Edward Snowden, a former NSA employee, ensured his downfall by meddling into business he was not supposed to. Snowden intruded the system to receive top-secret NSA documents that he then copied and released for the public to see, which caused Snowden to be charged with various crimes and be exiled. In many cases analogous to that of Polonius or Edward Snowden infringing on the business of others is viewed to be necessary when in reality, it’s avoidable. Through Polonius’s meddling in the play, to find the true cause of Hamlet’s madness, leads the revealing of Claudius’s guilt and eagerness to kill Hamlet to cover himself for the murder of King Hamlet.
