Pope Francis was always concerned about relationship with followers, specifically followers suffering from poverty, and they were his priorities and at the same his worries (Kim, 2013). This suggests an idea that he is more like relationship-oriented leader. There are many episodes of him staying akin to poor people. The economy depression of Argentina and his ideology on ‘labor’ is very closely related where the economic situation of Argentina made it impossible for people to find dignity and caused loss of motivation. To fix this problem, he worked to support the poor with materialistic things, welfare, and education (Valente, 2013). Like I have said, I have learned that by doing one’s task in well-mannered way, relationship will naturally follow. So, I ascertain that his leadership style will give positive effect of how I formulate myself as a leader in the future.
Pope Francis, unlike other organizational leaders, has to govern people throughout the world and has to build relationship with the follower in global scale. So, I believe it would be tough for him to reach out his relationship where his followers are scattered all over the world, but still, he lead his group with love. His love binds and motivates people with positive purpose. Despite the fact that he cannot hear all every member’s thoughts and anxieties, followers acknowledge his loving intentions.
I think one reason why people follow and put respects on Pope is because, the world that we are living now is sever and harsh. So, by setting a person to depend and rely on, people are getting comforted and his upright mind and purpose serve as a breakthrough of enduring their ruthless circumstances.
