Density of Population Density: The term density is referred to as mass per unit area. It is through this technique that we can distinguish whether, in case of geography, if an area has a high or a low density. Population Density: Population Density can be described as the number of people per square kilometer. It gives us an idea of how much land is used by the people living in a particular area. However, in simple terms we can state that “density is basically the ratio of total individuals occupying some space in relation to the size of that particular area.”1 It must be noticed that density of population varies from place to place due to several factors. Hence population density also depends upon the topography of land. ●Supporting Capacity: Supporting capacity of the land is the maximum population it can support without damaging its resources. It must be noted that mountainous areas have less supporting capacity as compared to plateaus and plain lands. ●Political Factors: Political factors play a vital role in population density as political activities greatly affects an area. It must be noted that areas where political activities are carried these areas are more developed as compared to the other areas due to which population is attracted towards such areas.
