Density of Population Density: The term density is referred to as mass per unit area. It is through this technique that we can distinguish whether, in case of geography, if an area has a high or a low density. Population Density: Population Density can be described as the number of people per square kilometer. It gives us an idea of how much land is used by the people living in a particular area. However, in simple terms we can state that “density is basically the ratio of total individuals occupying some space in relation to the size of that particular area.”1 It must be noticed that density of population varies from place to place due to several factors. Types of Population Density: • Arithmetic Density • Agricultural Density • Physiological Density • Economic Density • Critical Density Arithmetic Density: Arithmetic density can be simply defined as the total number of individuals living per unit area. It can also be …show more content…
These three are plain, plateaus and mountains. It must be noticed that plain areas can accommodate more people as compared to plateaus and mountains. Hence population density also depends upon the topography of land. ●Supporting Capacity: Supporting capacity of the land is the maximum population it can support without damaging its resources. It must be noted that mountainous areas have less supporting capacity as compared to plateaus and plain lands. ●Political Factors: Political factors play a vital role in population density as political activities greatly affects an area. It must be noted that areas where political activities are carried these areas are more developed as compared to the other areas due to which population is attracted towards such areas. If there is a government rule in a specific area then that area will automatically experience development of all types such as industrial, agricultural, economical etc. ●Government

Chapter Review (pg. 6-29) A: Human migration across the globe was the complete spread of the human species over much of the earth’s surface. The species began in eastern Africa; most types of humans come from this region, in the present day countries of Tazmania, Kenya, and Uganda. Main discoveries, especially fire and the use of animal skins for clothing-both of which allowed people to live in colder climates-facilitated the spread of Paleolithic groups. The first people moved out of Africa about 750,000 years ago.
A place is a specific point on Earth uniquely distinguished with its own attributes. ii. A region is an area of land consisting of a unique combination of cultural and physical features. d. Scale, Space, and connections i. Scale is the relationship between the area of Earth being examined and its real-life measurements. ii.
In 1820, most people were settled in particularly the east and there were approximately 2-89 persons per sq. mile. In 1860, the population had increased rapidly showing more people traveling to the western areas. The two maps show wide differences occurred over the course of decades. This indicates that moving west had expanded more of the land and it caused population to
Tremendous population growth and depletion of nutrients from overplanting were causing great demand for land. The birth
Dioxins are primarily by-products or residues from thermal industrial processes (combustion) that involve chlorine, but they can also occur during natural phenomena such as volcanic eruptions or forest fires. They are undesirable byproducts in a large number of manufacturing processes, such as melting, chlorine bleaching of pulp, and the production of certain herbicides and pesticides. In terms of emissions, it is considered that most of the dioxin released into the environment comes from uncontrolled waste incinerators (solid waste and hospital waste), which are the biggest culprits, with incomplete combustion. There are also large stocks of used industrial oils throughout the world whose longterm preservation and elimination of these materials
The human population is on the rise around the world, Hawaii being no exception. Even though Hawaii is a small island, overpopulation was caused by many people who are militaries, tourists, and immigrants. Actually, in 2011 Hawaii’s population density was 214 people per square mile. Also, on Oahu, where the majority of Hawaii residents live, the population density was 1,468 people per square mile. Therefore, Hawaii ranked 13th population density in the U.S. Hawaii’s overpopulation problem leads to the cost of living is high, increasing homelessness and the traffic congestion.
Ancient civilizations began in areas that had arable land and other features such as rivers. Civilizations succeeded in these environments because they could settle down and not live a nomadic lifestyle. Because the land was arable, agriculture prospered and people relied on the geography to grant them the elements needed for survival. In China and Egypt, geography greatly influenced and affected the lives of the people living there because of the prosperous rivers and large natural barriers.
Jonathan Swift’s essay, A Modest Proposal, is famous for satirically suggesting that people start selling their babies for food, which would logically solve the overpopulation and starvation problem in the world. Despite this less than feasible solution, overpopulation is a serious problem in the world, given that there are over seven billion people alive currently. The excessive amount of people living in this world has an adverse effect on both society and the environment. The environment has been destroyed by human pollution and is depleted of natural resources due to the sheer amount of materials needed to support such a large population. In fact, many plastic water bottles used by people are discarded as trash and pollute bodies of water (Soechtig & Lindesy, 2009).
Although China’s land is not as big as Russia or Canada, but their number of people make up more than two countries. Overpopulation in China is one of the serious problems that the world is facing because it brings unemployment, exhaustion of natural resources and also environmental at pollution. Why is China’s population more than other country, because
Overcrowding has been an issue for decades; however, due to growing population sizes, its negative social consequences are progressively worsening. Overcrowding is most commonly seen in cities and other urban developments. Cities attract people for many different reasons. As Steven E. Barkan, a professor in Sociology at the University of Maine, explains, cities provide it all: entertainment, cultural attractions, and employment opportunities (Barkan, 2012). Similarly, living in a city allows for easy access to public transportation, businesses, and other necessities.
Introduction Overpopulation is the excessive population of an area to the point of overcrowding and it is an undesirable condition in every country where the number of existing human population rises to an extent exceeding the carrying capacity of ecological setting. Overpopulation can be result from an increase in births, an increase in immigration, a decline in mortality rates and other factors that may cause overpopulated environment. Therefore, this can cause influence as lack of the available essential materials for survival like water, shelter, social amenities and other because of the numbers of people might be more than the materials for survival. In such condition, this regularly contributes to environmental deterioration, worsening
2.8.2 Urbanization Urbanization led many areas becomes more modernized. Lowland areas have been reclaimed by taking land from the hills. There are also small rivers that filled up to be used as a building site. Activities such as these are a common factor of flooding. In the past, creeks and valleys turned into water flow, now the area has been covered with soil.

The new place not only lacks such avenues for meaningful employment, it also lacks most civic amenities” URBAN AREA is that place where the density of human population is higher and the human-built features are vast in number when compared to its surroundings. Cities, towns etc comes under the urban areas. Urban areas are created and developed through the process of urbanization. According the census of India 2011, the urban area is defined as: • The places which are well facilitated; like having municipal facilities, corporational facilities, cantonment board or notified town area committee, etc.
